Okay, I've posted about this a couple of times now ;) but I'm noticing that this laptop (Acer 1501LCe) has completely dropped off the radar at every major notebook online store; Ebuyer, Dabs, Technoworld PLC, even Acernotebooks.

Is this an admission of a problem? It can't be an end of line unit, as I thought the Athlon 64 bit notebooks were some of the newest ones around?

(See my threads, or one posted by Ariskk for more details on the problem).

Just wondered if there's been any buzz/news about this, out of sheer interest :)

    Take it easy

    Hey Chimp,

Notebook models usually only have a few month (6 months max I think) lifespan before something replaces it. It's possible this model has been out for a while before you bought yours. Acer doesn't really have any business notebooks, so they turnover pretty fast. The business notebooks usually stay a lot longer, companies that buy them want to have the notebook available at a later time when they start buying again. They don't want different models with different specs all over their company. It makes standardization pretty difficult when that happens, but consumer models not have to follow this. So they change very often to keep up with all the latest and greatest technologies in the market to appeal to the end-user. I believe the 1501 series was replaced by the 1510 series.
