Anyone have any advice on wireless headphones. I prefer to avoid bluetooth because it is so damn finicky. A dongle works better in my opinion. I had a logitech one that was nice except the battery life was less than stellar. I would still be using it but my wife appears to have lost it -_- figures. they were like 100 bucks i think. My dad gave them to me. They have to be over the head too. I also would like them to cover my whole ears as well....and i mean actually cover them. I don't like my ears being squished.

I appreciate it....not really sure where to start. I rather not spend more than 100 unless i have to also.

Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Rage Wireless

What you think? With a dongle $79.99 Cover whole ears. It says 16hours but I only use for 5hours. Only Cons I found is low battery peeping and force you to charge your headset wired.

    low battery beeping...thats dumb lol

do these do virtual surround? NM they do.

How is the range for you? some people were complaining about short range?

Also how is syncing/hook up time....from turning it on how long does it take to start working? Also how fast is to repair(SP?) if it drops a connection from range.

Are you looking for a headset with a mic or headphones?

I have a Vengeance 2000 wireless headset, convenient for gaming and voip. My experience with this one is that pairing is almost instantaneous, and going out of transceiver ranger and back in range also results in an almost instantaneous reconnection. I'd assume it's the same for more current wireless headphones/headsets.

Also, for 100$, you won't get that much range and then there's interference in the wireless signal that will affect range, just like it does for wireless networks. Most headsets I know of tend to have a 10m (~30ft) range.

Beeping when the battery is low isn't dumb, you need something to tell you that you need to recharge the device and beeping is the best method for something that is mean to deliver audio annoying as it may be, especially if it's a device meant for gaming, you don't want the sound and TS chat to suddenly drop in the middle of a multiplayer match.

a mic would be nice to have...probably won't use it much but can't hurt. I like how it is removable. on the rage

    what about this?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104399

Those two seem to be the only real ones worth while in that price point and with what i want

EDIT: i am kinda leaning towards the logitech G930 because they appear to be more comfortable. They don't look like they would touch my ears. I hate head phones that are "circumaural" yet sit on your ears :/

Though i really do liek the removable mic on the rage :/ I rarely use a mic so it is nice to have it gone....plug it can't be turned into a listening device :)

yes victual surround sound, you can use razer surround sound software too.

the range is pretty good, I'd say 15-20' Feet away? from my room to backyard. they sync only take 1-5sec , plug in the usb and sync/pair right away.

Just personal opinion what I don't like about this headset, the headset has no 3.5mm jack only a dongle USB connection, just got myself SB EVO ZXR recently.

i like creative for the removeable boom but i dont think it actually fully covers your eyes. Do they rest on your eyes are all? logitech ones look bigger in space for your ears.

In doing some browsing I ran across these Logitech G930 Headset - Newegg.com. Now, I have heard both positive and negative things regarding this type of wireless headset. When I was still playing EQ2 I had SEVERAL guildies constantly swear backwards and forwards that these were the best headset they had ever owned! On the other hand, I have read several of the reviews from a few different websites which were not positive. They consisted of issues charging, connectivity, build quality, range just to name a few, but with a 1000 reviews and it still having 4 eggs how bad could it be?

    Good luck finding a pair!!!

    lol -_-

So does your whole ear fit inside the space and the padding just rest on your head? I hate "circumaural" that actually still rest on your ears. I like how the big headsets from sound equipment fit.

Wireless headphone are great when mobility is more important than maximum sound quality (you're limited by the frequency of the transmission of FM quality). Where ultimate fidelity is required, you still need to be...wired.

As for fit, there no way I can offer advice on that. You just have to try them on and see what happens.
Unless we're talking a work environment, that's a pretty large room.

I always have been and forever will be under the opinion that things such as this should be user defined. The default may be set to beep, as long as I get the option to shut it off.

It rest on my head instead of ears (I'm wearing glasses), If I don't position it well my ear will hurt badly after long hour gaming like 7 hours.

No option to shut it off :/ it will make you goes berserk & rage.

I think you made a good call with the Logitech G930. I tried a bunch of headsets including the Vengeance 2000. I really liked the 2000 but I could always hear some hiss regardless of how close I was to the receiver. I also had issues with the range. The 2000 would cut out in the kitchen whereas the G930 makes it all the way to the door (maybe another 10ft).

The mic disables itself when you put it in the upright position automatically that works very well. The new logitech gaming software works pretty well too. I have a large head and also wear glasses and it fits me fine at 50% adjustment mark. Right now they are 89 on amazon, which is a great price.

do you have the headset on the 2000 set on high volume and low volume on the computer? That is the source of most hisses in headphones

The Vengeance 2000 is a wireless model so the hiss was not coming from the jack or anything like that. The hiss was there regardless of volume. It wasn't noticeable when something was playing, only during silence. Most newer audio devices fully mute themselves when there is nothing being played. Maybe my pair was defective or my ears are too sensitive. I don't notice it on my G930 at all. I will admit, I liked the look and earpads on the 2000 better then the G930.

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Review | Everything USB
"I should point out that the wireless hardware in the Vengeance 2000 brings about a soft hissing noise.."

If you choose the Vengeance 2000, make sure you pick a place that you can return them if you need to.

that is false. Wireless is irrelevant. I had a logitech and moto bluetooth headset. If you have the headsets volume rocker, dial, whatever at 100% and you will get a hiss in most models. This is because you are feeding it 10% volume (or whatever) from the computer and you are forcing the headphones to amplify the volume to a much higher level than you it can handle. This can happened on almost all equipment if they have a built in volume control that allows that high of amplification. Just like when you use a sound board if you have gain to 100% and volume to 10% it will produce a hiss. You are taking an input volume and amplifying it so high you loose quality and produce a hiss. On most speakers if you use its own volume control to amplify the input volume when giving it a low input volume it will produce a hiss.

You can even due this on most professional gear. If you take a PM1D with a good speaker and you force the PM1D to put 100% gain on the sound and have the volume control (the slider) at 10% it probably will produce a hiss or some distortion.

Sorry i dont remember the exact names of the controls on sound boards....i haven't touched on in over a decade.

Well in any case I noticed constant hiss on the Corsair Vengeance 2000. I notice almost no hiss at all on my Logitech G930. I had them in my possession at the exact same time. Tested on the same 2 PCs.

Maybe mine was defective but I can find others mentioning the same thing.

did you see my whole post? i think i might have edited it before you posted...i tend to post and than edit...edit...edit...edit -_-

You could be right but remember that most headsets have that if you run the heatset volume at 100% or whatever. My moto BT headsets start to hiss at 50%(IIRC) with nothing playing. Faint but a mild hiss. Less than that it doesn't or i can't tell. (had average hearing at the time)

Obviously some don't have the issue at all and some are worse off just i would be surprised if the vengence had it super bad. My moto BT ones were the worse i have ever heard but those were like 35-70 bucks depending on the sale....they also sucked....mainly because it had the CRAPPIEST!!!!!! pairing set up. I stopped using them after a few weeks because i wasted hours trying to get them to pair or connect....piece of crap. (sole because of pairing design or wise for 40 bucks or whatever they were decent....market has a lot better stuff now...this was like 4-5 years ago)
