My battery is stone cold dead and I need a new one. There are lots of sources on the internet, but how to choose? I would appreciate any recommendations, advice or horror stories that would help me decide where to get a new battery.

I'm relying on my ancient laptop to get me through another year until I'm ready to pay out for a sleek little traveler with lots of vavavoom.

    Thanks very much.

Have you thought about looking on Ebay or laptopbatteries.com

There are a ton of vendors that carry manufacturer batteries. From my experience, it worked just as good as the one that you would get with your laptop.

On ebay you can usually get the real deal batteries for your laptop and not the third party. Thats where I got the 9cell (Because it was cheaper) for my Inspiron 6000 and its not a third party. It was a flawlessly running real Dell battery I run the crap out of every Tuesday and Thursday night.
