I have decided on getting a logitech MX518 mouse. I am willing to pay the $40 for a new one, but I would be nicer if I could save some money. How are the refurbished ones? Can I expect a similar lifespan for new and refurb?

Personally, the amount of money you could expect to save going refurbished isn't enough for me to go that route. I'd just spring for the $40.00 new and be done with it. However, if you do end up buying a refurbished MX518 (or really any refurbished product), understand that the warranty on these items are generally weaker than their new counterparts.

My current mouse is about 0.5 years old, and is dying as I type. The three year warranty is definitely worth it to me. New it is!
