    hey guys,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have found a traditional computer laptop backpack (no rollers) that fits the 18.4" laptops. I picked mine up at Fry's electronics. It was $70. But my DV8T fits in it perfectly. Not snug or tight in any way. It is the Targus 17" city gear backpack. The backpack works great. Its craftsmanship is superb but doesnt 'feel' as nice as my old Ful laptop backpack. However, this bag has a ton of space. overall, im thrilled with it.

Here are Targus and Neweggs links on it

Pretty nice looking backpack, always been a fan of how understated and simple Targus tends to keep their stuff (not always, but mostly it seems like)

Humm... that link doesn't work either....

I'm looking for a roller-case. The one HP sells I"m not crazy about because the single bar that's in it tends to bang on the laptop if the bag is empty without support to keep the laptop off that bar.
True, there is a folder to put the laptop in, but when you lean it down in carry mode, the laptop falls down and the bar straddles it in the center "without something to pad" and I'm concerned if the bag is handled roughly, the bar may damage the laptop.
I feel like it could use a bit better barrier than a layer of canvas to shield from the bars punishment.

So I'm looking for alternatives.. but everything I find that looks great is for a smaller computer.

anyone find another good solution for a roller case?

With all the variety available for smaller machines I don't understand why the choices all suddenly reduce down to the zip-festooned carbuncles like that from Targus above, or boring packs like that from Tumi.

Perhaps the lack of Mac fashionistas in the form factor...? Axio's hardpacks only work with the 17-inch Macbook Pro, nothing thicker / larger.

I need one for large 17-inch+, I just can't find one I'd be prepared to carry. I'm perfectly OK with a Targus when e.g. I'm in my clown outfit on the bicycle, but everyday use - no thanks.

I've got the targus and I don't think it looks to bad. Of course I'm not out trying to pick up chicks in it but its of good build quality and holds everything I need it to.
