Has anyone built a custom bag from timbuk2? Are these meant to hold laptops? I'm buying a E1705 and want a real colorful funky bag which is why I'm looking at the custom built ones. If anyone has some pictures of the inside of the bag that'd be great - the website doesn't provide any pics with detail.

I have a medium timbuk2 messenger, and my 14" t43 w/extended battery fits OK in it. When in a case, it sticks up a bit and prevents the flap from closing as much as it normally would. Nothing terrible, but I think much taller (computer depth) would start to become a problem, or at least make the bag look a little strange. There is plenty of extra width, though.

So, a medium messenger might be pushing it, but the large messenger bag might fit pretty well (going from the dimensions). Sorry I can't take a picture of mine, I just turned my camera on and it said memory card error . This website has some good pictures of the inside, though.

That's great! Those are just the types of pictures I've been looking for. Besides the slight size issue are you otherwise happy with the bag? I'm dissapointed that the customizable bags aren't for laptops. That means I'm stuck with the preconfigured colors that come with the actual laptop bags they offer - oh well.

Good luck with the memory card :(

    Thanks

Yes, I'm very happy with the bag. I was worried I wouldn't be (I hate buying things I've never seen), but I really like it. I wouldn't call the size thing an issue per se, since it doesn't cause any problems, but I thought it was something worth mentioning. I shopped around for a while, and had lots of trouble finding halfway decent pictures of any of the messenger bags. Those gadgeteer pictures helped me a lot, but I wish there were pictures of other companies' bags somewhere.

Mine is just the regular messenger bag, which I use with a separate sleeve. You can do the same if you don't want to use their colors. I might have gone with their laptop messenger, but I wanted cordura instead of the ballistic nylon, and the center divider is nice too. Would the e1705 fit in the laptop messenger, anyway?

I really like the bags from incase. The timbuk2 bags are also very good but the incase cases are sleeker looking.

It doesn't look like the e1705 would fit in the bag actually. I'm really thinking about downgrading screens - I was planning on buying the e1705 in a month or so but now with the e1505 maybe coming out with the 15.4 screen I may go for that one.
