I'm looking for a mouse for the laptop when out. Between a wireless and a bluetooth, what are the differences? I know you don't need a dongle with a bluetooth mouses, but is there any other benefit? It seems like there are more problems with them like lagging etc. Are there really more problems with the bluetooth mouses, and is it still worth it to get one just because it doesn't have a little dongle?

Personally I wouldn't go for a wireless mouse. It draws a lot of battery from your notebook. The coolest thing would be to get a mouse with a retractable cable,IMO.

As far as the dongle question, I've had both. Wireless with dongle and bluetooth without. I'd never go back to a mouse with a dongle again. I have to take my machine in and out of its bag 10-15 times a day with work and the whole dongle thing was just another step but I got used to it. No big deal. That is until I tried a bluetooth Kensington Pocket mouse. What a difference. You never realize how much of a pain the dongle was until you don't have to even think about one. I, as many others, have not had any "lag" or "tracking" problems with my mouse. I starts right up every time and tracks great. Now I don't game on my machine (desktop for that) so I can't tell you what the mouse would be like for that but I can tell you for everyday tasks and general stuff, I'd never go back to a corded or dongle mouse again. I think the main bt mice out there now are the Logitech v270 and the Microsoft bt 6000? Not sure about the MS mouse #. I do know some people like it better than the Logitech because of more buttons and functions but the V270 is solid.

The only problems a bluetooth mouse could give you (if your laptop doesn't have bluetooth built in) is that you are going to have to use a dongle and if you use a smartphone like i do, it will interfere with your phone's ability to sync over bluetooth using outlook syncing pictures/music.
but if you don't use a smartphone that you sync over bluetooth, i would probably say get the bluetooth mouse if your notebook has bt built in. -

the microsoft notebook laser 6000 mouse uses very very little battery power. i'd go so far as to say it's probably less than 5-10min of your batt life. i've used it for a long time, doesnt sap much at all. though it does have a low powered transmitter, thus only offering 4-5 feet of range. but it's served my purposes for mobile computer for a long time. the only draw back is that you do need a dongle for it. though it fits neartly under the mouse.
if you have bluetooth, i'd say go for that. long range and no dongle.
