    Hey guys,

I need to buy a new mouse sometime in the next month or two here and have 2 questions.

1st: Does the purchase of a new Macbook Pro come with a mouse? I'm holding out on refresh anyways so...

2nd: How long does your standard wireless mouse last in terms of batteries. I used to hear horror stories about changing em every other day... issue solved?

    Thanks

    1. Unless a certain store is offering a Macbook + mouse combo deal, they don't usually come with mice.

    2. It varies, anywhere between a couple days to several months. Most of the really short ones are gaming mice, though, like the Razer Mamba or Logitech G7.

I bought a microsoft wireless mouse and it claims several months, have not tested it yet.

However it has an auto off switch when you attach the usb receiver/transmitter to it. You would probably be best looking for something which has a dedicated on/off switch just in case.

I'm glad you pointed out the short life was a gaming mouse (which I know nothing about) because I was about to freak about the charge lasting only a couple of days!! I typically get a few months of normal use (whatever that means?) before I have to change the two AA batteries in my Logitech wireless mouse.

On the other hand, I recently got a new MX Performance mouse which lasted only for about three weeks before I had to charge it's battery. Then again, it IS a rechargeable, and a single AA.

    General rule of thumb.

USB RF Mice with batteries = anywhere between 3-6 months of "normal" use
Bluetooth Mice = 1-3 months of "normal" use
Anything with integrated battery/rechargeable battery = Few days to a week of "normal" use

Macbook Pro comes with no additional anything. Remember Apple assumes you are filthy rich and pay insane premiums. Unless you really need OSX I would reconsider.

Whats in a MBP box: 1 MBP, 1 Charger, 2 Recovery Disks, Small amount of paperwork.

I got the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000, and it' lasts me around 5 months on Energizers.
