    Which enclosure would you pick?

I narrowed my search to these 2 eSATA/USB enclosures. One has a well designed case to dissipate heat without a fan, and the other has a nice looking case as well, but a fan to blow heat out the back.

    Well?

Are you going for the looks or what? If you are then get the one with a better looking case. I currently have a basic generic looking fanless aluminum enclosure. So far no issue what so ever even when I leave it running for a good hour or two. It does warm up but not to a point where a fan is needed.

The CoolerMaster is Cool even if I leave it on whole day, and I live in the Tropics, Room Tempearature around 28C, at least that's how it goes when I touch the case. But having some problems with the Coolermaster whereby my computer cannot detect the harddisk inside at times. Don't know whether is the HDD or the enclosure problem. If you want a fan, I think Vantec do make good enclosures with fan.

I think Intensity is referring to the Vantec NexStar3 model NST-360SU-BK. I've seen some good reviews on this enclosure, and it comes with a handy SATA to eSATA bracket for your desktop rig.

:EDIT: There's a nice review of this enclosure over at driverheaven.net.

I'd pick the coolmaster, but don't take my word as the final decision.
