Alienware ($90 USD) makes a VERY SHARP LOOKING one. Mobile edge ($80) has a similar version for less (I believe www.amazon.com has one for $60.

well didn't want to make a new post so i will just add to this one, anyone got any suggestions on a good backpack for a 17inch notebook, im getting the I9300. Im looking for one that is not too bulky, i know it will be bigger than a normal backpack but some backpacks for the 17inch notebooks are just plain huge! Im looking for one that has extra pockets for accessories and maybe even a hole for headphones and a cell phone pocket. Nothing too big, im going to be lugging it around school. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

*Sony MDR-G74SL Headphones for music and gaming, best 40 dollar pair i have ever bought!*

Yeah normal backpacks work i just want a backpack that has a extra padded slot for my notebook. Don't want anything scratching it and looking for the extra protection.

I don't know your budget but BOOQ sells 17 Inch laptop backpacks. Go to the Booq Web site ?www.booqbags.com?

You may also look at www.semsons.com that sell them at a discount. Good luck with that monstrocity.

If the Booq bags are within your price range, and you're willing to go a little higher even for that touch of quality and exclusivity that only importing from Down Under will provide, check out www.crumplerbags.com. I got their Team Player because I was looking for something that'd protect my 15.4" notebook to the nth degree and allow me to carry around all my school supplies as well. It's bulky. But they have scads of other models too and I almost guarantee you'll find something that suits you in their line.

    Happy hunting.

There are two new reviews going to be posted soon one on a sleeve (http://www.roadwired.com/store/Product.cfm?Productid=90) and one on a backpack (http://mobileedge.com/items.asp?cid=3&scid=3&pid=5#) so hopefully these will help you to make your decision.

I got the Targus notebook sleeve from CompUSA....for 26 bucks, can't be beat....nice smooth neoprene-type material, good padding and fits the i6000 like a glove. Plus you can carry it like a regular laptop bag or put it in another bag and use as a sleeve. I love the padded shoulder strap and handles....

to think I got this until I figured out what I wanted....now all I'm looking for is a backpack/messenger bag, since my wife wants a hip one and I want a functional one!!!!

That is a great deal for the Targus sleeve/bag. I considered it myself but I wanted to make it less obvious that I was carrying a laptop and it is not weather resistant but the exact opposite...a sponge for water! I tried out the Shoreline case for a week but it wasn't durable externally.

For those that need a larger backpack and don't know what to get you may want to check out the review here of the Mobile Edge bag that fits 15.4 and 17" bags:

Ok, so I just got a Sony Vaio 15" last week. Now I'm desperately looking for a laptop backpack (the slings/briefcases are too difficult to carry) that'll hold all my school junk--I'm in college--but won't be ginormous. I read the review for the Mobile Edge bag but I'm afraid it just isn't big enough. There's no happy middle ground that I've found.
Does anyone know of a decent sized laptop backpack that'll hold a laptop + a few books and school supplies but not be as big as a freakin' suitcase?

Well if you wanted to use your laptop to take notes you could probably get rid of most of your notebooks, just leaving you with needing room for your books and maybe a small notebook for special things.

I figured I'd post to say I got the MobileEdge Premium backpack. So far, it's durable and I really like the protection around my laptop.
On the down side, though, there's just not enough pockets to keep stuff separated, nor is it as big as I need.
I hope that next semester I don't have to take a book to class when I need my laptop, too.

I use a Targus Matrix notebook backpack. One thing that I didn't like about it was that people have the tentency to pull on the strings, and both of mine broke off. Whats good about it is now it kind of looks like a skater backpack and I can put a skateboard through a sleve that the strings would not let me do before.

Hmmm looks like Targus is the way to go. i was previously looking at North Face, Gravis, JanSport and those common brand names. But they all seem to lack real padding for the laptop compartment.

I am now looking at the Targus pulse http://www.ebags.com/products/index.cfm?modelid=18761

Cheap and looks great and should work fine. But that comment above saying how Targus backpacks are like a sponge for rain scares me. Although I will also get a seperate sleeve for the laptop so should be fine.
