    Great Forum!

I purchased 2 Dell Vostro 1000 during the $479 special. I upgraded one to 2 ghtz and 2gb ram. Please feel free to give me some advise on my new purchases. I will recieve them tomorrow.

It doesn't have an integrated microphone and I am trying to find the best solution to have a microphone and a webcam that would connect strongly to the laptop screen or otherwise so that the kids wouldn't rip it off, and so that there is no loose wires hanging.

So far I have noticed that logitech and creative are the best in quality, but often do not fasten good enough for my little kids environment.

I liked the idea of a gooseneck or snake type webcams but have not found one with an integrated microphone on the US market, even though I saw one on the European market. However, I would like to hear some reviews of the quality if someone already tried a gooseneck type of a cam...

Any other helpful information about Vostro 1000 is very appreciated!

    Please advise.

    Thanks in advance.

What price range are you looking at? I personally like a C4000 microphone but that would cost more than the notebook so I don't think that would be appropriate.

MS VX-1000 webcam is not bad, it has an integrated mic and the quality is quite good, its about 25€ ($40). There is also a VX-3000 which supposed to be better, but the optics are the same...so the VX-1000 is better value.

    Thanks!

I use mainly skype and Voip programs. Is this good for that?

How is that clip? Will it connect good to the vostro 1000 screen?

How long is the wire? I would prefer a solution with no loose wires or a short one...

Another important factor is having 360 degree viewing so I can show my parents the kids, which is the main reason I need the webcam.

    How is the mic?

    Thanks again!

I noticed the cable comes out the back.

Does it pull on the camera to change the direction of the view?

Any ideas on what to do with the wire to prevent the kids from pulling on it?

    How is the clip?

    Thanks!

I keep going back to Logitech webcams, but need help choosing one with a strong clip fitting a Vostro 1000 and near 360 and vertical movement.

    Thanks!
