    WD MyBook Essentials 500GB External

    Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a great cheap drive. I just bought one for my macbook, works excelently. I don't know if it is different in NTFS, but on HFS+ the drive formats out to ~465 gb, which isn't that bad.
    Either way, it's available for a great price from newegg. While they "Technically" don't do it, I got Best Buy to price match it after a bit of wrangling. Here's the link:

    A few weeks ago dell was selling this drive for $100. $125 still isn't a bad price for it I guess.

    Although I managed to snag myself a 320 gb iomega external for $70 - $30 rebate = $40 (crossing fingers for rebate to process) :D

    I bought the WD MyBook Pro 500GB a couple of months back, and am very happy with it. It still freaks me out occasionally when it automatically shuts down after being idle for ~10 minutes... I'm not used to external drives doing that.
