I've noticed on most laptops the video out plug for a monitor is different than the one I have. I noticed that Sager laptops have the correct out but that seems to be the only laptop as most others are the normal monitor plug. My question is are there adapters available so that I can hook up my current monitor to a basic laptop? I have adapters to do the opposite so I figure there probably is one made for my needs.

I don't own a laptop I own a desktop but am interested in buying a laptop.

After doing a little more digging I think it is called DVI out, and from what I've read it didn't look good.

You can find notebooks with HDMI out, and you can get adapters which connect HDMI to DVI. Or you can get a notebook with a dock station, as most dock stations also feature DVI outputs.
