first off i would like to ask if buy.com is a credible source to buy from
then i would like to ask whether i should get the nano or 450.
i like the nano cuz the receiver is small and looks nice but its so expensive
the 450 has a receiver that is normal sized but still big, it looks good and its not that expensive.
basically. is it worth the money to get the nano? or should i just go cheap.

Honestly I would never scrimp on mice or any kind of input peripheral. They allow you to enjoy your laptop to the full and are your main interface after all. I have no idea about buy.com as i'm from Europe.
That price is not that bad for the Nano. Over here it costs €62 = $84 and i'm still willing to pay it. That price for the V450 is great though. You could buy the 2 for the same price as a European nano. Go on get both, keep one as a backup, you deserve it. -
Buy.com is a good place to buy stuff. They are reputable.

I had a number of mice with larger receivers and found that it made it very difficult to position the notebook effectively and always had to be removed to transport it which I was not a big fan of. For this reason I was comparing the VX Nano and the V270 since my laptop is Bluetooth enabled.
I decided on the VX Nano and after a week of use I am very impressed with it. The design is very comfortable for long term use which is hard to find with the smaller size of many notebook mice. I don't need to remove the receiver for transport, but it has a place to store it in the battery cover if I ever did need to do so. There are customizable buttons that are very handy and the hyper scroll function is very nice. I also like the low battery indicator and the power switch to disable it during transport or when it is not in use. Overall I am very pleased with it and feel it was worth the extra money. If I had to make the same decision again I would definitely get the VX Nano. -
I'd say go into a computer store and try both of them. See how they feel, the Nano is quite small and I decided that it wasn't comfortable for me. If you think that you could use it then it may be the mouse for you. But if you think that you need the larger size of something like the V450 then go for that.
Personally I'm waiting for Logitech to release the G9 laser mouse. -
I own a Nano and I really like it a lot. It is somewhat small but between the two I recommend the Nano, the receiver is so small I forget it's there. Very smooth, nice buttons, excellent scroll wheel.
-
I just bought a Nano for the full retail of $69.99 and I've got to say that even though it's smaller then I'm use to, it's an excellent mouse. It glides over most every surface with ease, and never misses. Actually, if I had any complaint, I'd say that it doesn't have enough resistance.... I seem to be less precise with the Nano as compared to other mice. Overall though, I'm not bringing it back because it is 10x better then the touchpad. I "test drove" the 450 and it is a very nice mouse also, but the receiver size was a big turn off compared to the Nano. The question comes down to whether or not you'll be hauling your laptop around or if it's going to be stationary.

bought lots of stuff from buy.com and they have been reliable and sometimes much cheaper than amazon and most places.
go with the nano, it is newer and the best small mouse out there imo -
I would choose the Nano, which is exactly what I did. It is on the small side but it is comfortable. I have large hands yet it still doesn't feel small. It also is ambidextrous. I use it as a lefty. It seems well built, as well as these are nowadays. I was using an older Logitech mouse that was built like a tank. Hope this one holds up as well.
One other comment, it comes with a usb extension, which I don't quite understand. Isn't the point to leave the tiny plug in? Not this large extension? :confused2:

I love my VX Nano
-
Had both nano and revolution for 2 weeks, for prolonged usage i'd recommend vx revolution (i even preffer it to desktop mouses since some of those are too big)
-
I just bought the V450 myself from buy.com. It's $33.56 and there's that nice $10 mail-in rebate, bringing it down to $23.56.
But then I was pleasantly surprised because I was able to get an additional $10 for using the Google checkout (which you can get if you're a new Google checkout user and it's a one-time deal).
In the end, I'll have paid a whopping $13.56 for it. -
I've had my VX nano for about a week and I love it, its a awesome mouse.

Semi-off topic but I tried out the VX nano today and it was very nice, I really wanted to get it but two things stoped me, the price was way too high at Best Buy, $79.99 and I really really want a blue tooth mouse. I just do not understand why there are so few out there. Many laptops now have intergrated blue tooth so why is selection so slim, I mean you get the advantage of wirless plus no STUPID usb dongle (I hate those sooooo much)!! Can anyone provide some insight for me?? As this has been brothering me for a few months now lol
-
Along the same lines as above...
Generally speaking, is a Bluetooth mouse more of a 'pain in the butt' than using something with a USB doggle? -
on a side note....does anybody know if the vx nano dongle will work with vx/mx revolution mice?
-
No, the vx nano receiver does not work with the other mice.
-
i love my VX Nano mouse!!! and buy.com rocks! -
i just want to chime in here because i am literally using these two currently.
im a self proclaimed mouse guru and i own a ridiculous amount of them.
i bought the nano to replace my V450 as an everday mouse. i've been using it for over a month now, and i have to say although it performs well (no better than the V450 though), the comfort is terrible in comparison to the V450. it has no palm support. thats the killer that will cramp the Sh!t out of your hand.
its nice and light, almost to the point where the plastic feels cheap, and the batteries are still rockin. scroll wheel is awesome.
the mini usb receiver sounds like its broken, but its not. i think i've taken it in and out, i dont know, maybe 5 or 6 times. if you grab it with your index finger and thumb a shake it, it makes metal clingy type noise.
for expensive as it is, i would pass. i have no problem paying for quality peripherals, but this one is not something i recommend.
i like the V450, and theres even a BT version now! -

I've felt the VX/MX revolution at my local office depot, and found that the middle scroll click was stiff and hard to press for consistent use. Can anyone comment on the Nano's middle click?
-
VX Nano looks great and feels solid, but not completely. Scroll wheel works well although feels kind of wobbly and a bit noisy. Middle click needs to be pressed way too hard, imo. Hyper mode works just fine.
And yeah, usb receiver sounds like its broken, but its not. Overall it is great notebook mouse that have mentioned "faults".
Maybe I'm too picky but for 65 euro's I want perfect scroll wheel also -
Is there anyway to get just the Nano receiver? I love my LX7 but hate the receiver. (assuming of course you can mix receivers)

1 - Precision. BT data rate isn't high enough for demanding users. Gamers or fussy people. I fall in the latter category. The latest BT mouses finally use BT EDR which stands for enhanced data rate so they should be better... would love to see a review of that new V470...
2 - Battery life. I spoke with a friend who had a BT mouse for his laptop for a while and the mouse didn't even last a day. It was rechargeable but the charging dock was huge. He now has a V450 (? not sure here) non-bluetooth wireless mouse which runs on 2 AA batteries and which has been running all day for 3 months now with the included batteries.
It seems like the tiny micro plug is the best solution right now. The difference in battery life is so big that I don't think newer BT mouses will be able to make up for it with better BT chips / bigger batteries.
Edit: Don't think the V470 is out yet but one "preview" claimed that it will have a battery life of 4 months. If that's true it could be the first really-working BT mouse but I am not holding my breath... -
