Eddie Bauer and North Face; I know Eddie Bauer makes at least one or two bags that will hold laptops.

I'm pretty sure there are some North Face bags you can fit a laptop into.

Keep up the good work :)

Chrome also makes backpacks, and you should add Deuter ( Deuter's US website) to the list for backpacks. Another company that makes (supposedly the best) messenger bags is PAC Designs. They will sew an insert into any of their bags which is specifically designed for a Tom Bihn Brain Cell case. Boblbe-e offers hard protection in backpack form.

If you have the time, it would be great to categorize the bags even further, such as mentioning that Chrome, Ortlieb, Pelican, and other bags are weatherproof. Adding price ranges would be nice too. That's a lot of work though.

Thanks for your recommendations Meemat and fourier427.

Ken Wind - GREAT IDEA!!! I just started the thread. Therefore, it is not very structured right now. But, I will spend sometime this weekend on structuring the links by prices and by bag types. Thanks for your suggestion!

Check out Vaude (small German company). They have a nice selection of laptop bags ranging from backpacks to messenger style bags and more traditional briefcase-type bags. I just got the "Berlin 1916" bag. My Vostro 1400 fits perfectly. There's plenty of room to spare and the bag is not too unwieldy. Just perfect.

These bags are difficult to find in the US, but check them out at

Franklin Covey Natalie Black Leather Unisex Messenger Bag (720955)

This is a very good bag for Dell XPS M1330. It can take an M1330 with a 9 cell battery even in the Dell provided sleeve! Check out my review for more details.
