    Hi, Im pondering getting rid of my desktop because my laptop is alot easier to use and deal with. I have 4 hard drives in my desktop 2 IDE a sata and a sata 2, If I get rd of the the dekstop whats the best way to hook these up to my notebook? is there any speed loss with usb to ide? for the sata ill have to wait until they release a sata expresscard /34.

    probably an external hd enclosure that supports ide/sata (either or since there are few for both) and goes to usb 2.0, firewire, or sata, or any combination of the above mentioned.

    I am using a couple of Vantec NexStar 3 enclosures. They support SATA drives and run via USB 2.0 or eSATA. I use it mostly via USB 2.0, but I do have a PCMCIA sata card that runs the HD at its full speed potential.

    I'd highly recomend this kind of versatility.
