These headphones can handle a lot of power ... 3,500 mW, I just need a good amp for them, audio out could be from the actual headphones plug or from USB whichever.
The other day a friend with a pair of monster beats headphones (Yeah those have an amplifier built-in) hooked up to my laptop and they were really loud. I had the EQ cranked up too from the realtek audio menu. They were loud but not as clear as my A&H XONE XD-53 and I also have the XD-40. My friend said my headphones are like super clear but they don't pound like his do, and he's right just 'cause he's got that freaking amp running on tiny batteries inside his headphones.
The amp could be ExpressCard34 also, I have a flush USB 3 adapter in there but I'd rather have a decent headphones amp. than USB 3.

What headphones are you trying to drive? How much are you willing to spend?

Yup i am going to get the Fiio you can go higher of course and their's so many of them. You should start off there and also get the E9+E7 combo for full desktop amplification.

I will get the E7 also looks like it does a lot for the money and it has a rechargeable battery bult-in which they say it lasts up to 80 hrs. and two output jacks. Too bad the E7 is not slim enough to integrate it in the optical drive bay or at least store it in there, but I like the idea of a portable amp.
The A&H XD-40 and XD-53 I'm gonna be using along with the FiiO E7 are like ten times better than the monster beats. I have the sound clarity it's just that the laptop audio out is weak.
Thanks Vic!
