    Can anyone recomend a good USB hub(4 ports), that works well with 2 external hard drives, speakers and wacom tablet?

    I'm looking for something decent with good performance. Links also appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    If you are going to put eternal hard drives on the usb hub, it needs to be powered by an AC power cord and not by the USB. This usb hub would be perfect.

    1 external HD plus speakers plus wacom tablet might work... but it's a long shot. it really needs an AC adapter for all those things.
    your only solution besides a hub with a AC adapter is this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13526
    and even that I really don't known if it will have enough power. but imo, this hub is the best one I ever saw. I just wish it had 4 regular usb. you might need to put an adapter, that's what I use to do.

    @cloudbyday , @__-_-_-__ thanks for your reply.

    Looks like the ones that only have 500mA, wont keep up, i guess i'll need something with 1000mA.

    The external hub only needs to be powered if the connected devices draw power.

    If you run 3,5" HDDs off a USB hub with their own power supply then you do not need a powered hub.

    Same goes for any other device - basic rule:
    If its data only, no need for power, if its charging/drawing power it needs a powered hub.

    (I know one exception, my MP3 player...)

    Anyway, I have 2 7 port hubs from Belkin... (and a router issue with them) - else 2 other hubs... it really doesn't matter which product you choose if you buy it from a shop or a site like Amazon (not merchant).

    (beware of no name products from China though...)

    For data, perfect :)
    (Not sure if you need the ipod dock...)

    I'm not sure if it has a Power supply though.
