I was contemplating one of the external battery options available on the internet. Is this a safe alternative to carrying around two normal HP batteries? I don't want to plug the thing in and fry my laptop, so I figured I would ask the experts!

    thanks

    Do you have a link?

In general, OEM batteries are the safer, more practical bet. You don't really want to take a gamble when it comes to electricity.
