:D I hope this is not too naive but I don't want to do the wrong thing.
I have a USB keyboard and mouse from my old Dell desktop. Can I just plug them into my new laptop and use them?
    Thanks

Yes, you should be able to. It should work automatically. I did the same with a keyboard/optical mouse on my old desktop and to test on my laptop.

    Worked just fine! :D

Thanks much..I was worried for nothing.
I just plugged them in and continued typing and mousing!! Worked like a charm.
That is so nice because now I don't have to buy them. :)

USB is a standardized port / interface, so does all other ports you might have on your notebook (i.e : VGA, DVI, HDMI, LAN, Modem, Firewire) except the power jack. Therefore brand of the external device doesn’t matter.

Yes, you are correct. I think Prescott was just concerned, and wanted to make sure he was doing the correct thing.
