HI, i am looking to connect my sony sz laptop to a large screen as i find the standard one to small for surfing the web and reading stuff, etc.
i am also renovating and as such buying a new flat-screen tv, but i am puzzled: will there be any difference between the picture quality of a nice 24 or so inch dell monitor and a sony bravia 40inch lcd when i am on the computer?
as i have seen computer feeds on tvs that just looked terrible, is it better to use a desktop screen.
if there is no difference, why does a 30 inch desktop monitor cost much more than a 30 inch lcd tv?
    thanks

Well, the dell screen will prob look better, because of:
    1. Smaller, thus not stretched as much
    2. Prob a better refresh rate
    3. Possibablly better resolution that TV (depents if the tv is 1080p or not)

and big screens amre more than big tv's because they have higher refresh rates, possibally better resolutions and better panels some times

the tv will be full HD for sure.
so if you buy a good tv, shouldnt the picture look just as good on a tv as on a good monitor.
i am looking at the dell ultrasharp 27 inch,
but i am also looking for a screen with built in speakers and webcam that is nice, kinda like the dell crystal...any recommendations.

ok... if it is 1080P and a 6 or less ms responce time, go with the tv. (that is, if it is for gaming) if not, 8ms should be ok. Also, a tv of larger size, but same resolution of a smaller moniter, the moniter will looks better, as the pixles will not be as stretched

    ok thanks.
are there any tv screens you recommend for this, as i could just buy a nice tv, instead of a monitor and a tv.
i was looking at samsung lcds, and the sony bravia line.
how will i know what the perfect resolution is, so that my desktop will look as it should on the screen?
