    Hi guys,

I´m gonna buy a Swissgear backpack for my laptop. It´s a Acer Aspire 5740G 15.6". I´ve been reading reviews of the Ibex and Pegasus, also had a look at the Synergy.

The 17" models I think they´re gonna a little too much, even though I really like them a lot. However I think the Synergy is gonna be really tight as it´s designed for 15.4" notebooks, right?

There are "new" 15.6" models such as the Cobalt and Granite but they are nowhere near as good looking as the ones mentioned above.

Differences between the Ibex, Pegasus and Synergy apart from the size? Are they waterproof?

    Help please...

I can't comment on differences as I only owned Synergy. It was waterproof and well padded for 15.4" notebooks. I never actually had 15.4" notebook, but I think most 15" would fit nice.... since Alienware m17x can actually be fit inside, albeit... with a bit of forcing.

However... the laptop compartment on the backpack wasn't as close to my back as I wanted. It was sewed on the opposite side of the compartment making the laptop hanging further away from your back, producing more torque. Which you can actually feel when you fully load the backpack (I took it on cross-atlantic flights several times). Otherwise its very well built and is very durable. After 3 years it still looks really good and undamaged.

I am also looking to buy Swissgear backpack for 15,6" Lenovo L520 after having read many positive reviews about the brand.

I find it very hard though to decide on the actual backpack. There are so many models around the 15.4"/15.6"/16" size bracket. What distinguishes them?

If your laptop is 15"x10" it will fit in the Synergy just fine (that's the official pocket size according to the label).

The main thing to look for in a backpack is durability. You don't want your shoulder straps coming apart just 2 months in, which I've read about with cheap backpacks. Another thing could be style.

The Synergy is very durable but not very stylish. It's tough to find the perfect combo at a reasonable price.
