I just bought this Westinghouse monitor from Best Buy and love it. I just noticed one thing though, everywhere you look, it's advertised as having a 1000:1 contrast ratio and an 8ms response time. HOWEVER, in the appendix of the user's manual, it CLEARLY says "Contrast Ratio - 700:1 AND Response Time - 5ms." WHAT GIVES... Can anyone explain this to me.

Well, that's not a bad tradeoff. The 3ms improvement's pretty good, given that 8ms is god awful slow. Plus contrast ratios are pretty much random numbers nowadays anyway.

However, Westinghouse is a budget brand, and I usually recommend steering clear.

I've had good experiences with all the Westinghouse screens I've dealt with(around 10 of them, all over 32").

    It's the L2410NM Westinghouse 24 inch monitor.

Do the 3ms really make a difference? I mean, we're talking milliseconds here.

And I know Westinghouse's are cheap, but when I saw the screen and the price I couldn't pass it up. I got a solid 1080p resolution for only $330 at Best Buy.

Yeah, the picture really is amazing. Plus I got the 4 year warranty for an extra 50 bucks just in case. I'm really pleased with it, I'm just curious about why the specs are different.

About the 3ms resonce time. It all depends on what you're doing on your monitor. If all you're going to do is e-mail, web brousing, test documents, stuff like that then I doubt you would even notice. However if you're going to do serious gaming or graphics design then yea 3ms is HUGE

It's not unherd of that the wrong manual get put in the wrong box. In case you didn't check already.

Don't worry too much regarding this monitor and gaming. I have it and it rocks. Unfortunately my laptop cannot compare (I really need a desktop).

As for the manual specifications confusion, look at what model is listed on the front cover. It should say:
