Sorry...shortest I found was 3ft. Why not just get the 3ft on and just leave it in the cable tie.

Buy a retractable one. Or, if you have a spare and can solder it's very easy to make one any length you need. I was even able to find a guide with pictures.

It will carry power... Retractable cords are the way to go... They cost about $3 for one that is 3ft. I'm not sure if there is a minimum lenght. By the way what our you going to be using such a short cable for?

You might find a usb 2 hub with the correct length. It can sub as an extension cable.

Oh wait .. u said male to male ... sorry!

Yeah, you won't have a problem with power or anything like that, and there's no minimum length requirments -you just need enough wire to strip and solder.

Ziplinq makes retractable cables in all kinds of configurations - M-M, M-F, extension cables, etc., as well as other useful retractable cords and cables (laptop power cord, ethernet, phone, etc.) I just bought a few from Tigerdirect. Retractables keep everything much neater, especially when I'm travelling.

I used to buy retractable cables from an eBay seller named morning.calm, not sure if he's still selling them. They were a little bulkier than Ziplinq's but good quality, I have been using some of them for 3 years +.

Power? USB carries a maximum of 2.5Watts. that shouldn't be a problem ;)

Nope. But keep in mind that USB is a pair. Both leads of thar pair should be matched exactly. As in: down to the millimeter. And an absolute minimum of shielding should be removed.

Talk is cheap, I decided I'd find a long USB cable that I want short and shorten it. My cellphones data transfer/charging cable ($0.99 on ebay) was perfect. Basically, it's a 3 1/2' cable I carry in my travel bag in case I need to charge my phone or transfer pictures; it's a space hog. 15 minutes later it's just under 4" and won't take up any room in my travel bag -charging and data transfer still work.
