No thanks. My Seagate 2TB external drives are 13mm tall, weigh 170 grams, are USB 3.0, and cost less.

It's a disaster if Seagate picks up the idea with their other drives. Native USB drives suck, USB interface being the most vulnerable part.

Qing Dao, HTWingNut, same 2TB drives here as well. Btw, how do you transport them? I warp mine (external) in bubble packing or similar protecting stuff, because it's media drive thus not backed up.

Powered-off laptop drives are pretty sturdy. Also, the drive is not touching the casing. It is held in place by four soft rubber grommets that are slipped over the four screws on the sides of the drive. I just put it in my bag and don't worry. As long as it isn't banging into a hard surface it should fine.

For me it's disposable data anyhow, nothing I can't reproduce, and they are very rugged especially when powered off as noted by Qing Dao. If it's critical data on the move then I make sure it goes into my Dropbox or personal home server or if no networking available then on the computer and an external drive. I usually don't take my external HDD with me though, everything I need will fit on a USB thumb drive. I'm mega paranoid about losing data any more, so am OCD about having duplicates or even triplicates or more of my most critical data (mainly current working documents, legal docs, personal photos and videos).
