Hi, I was wondering if you guys could help me pick out a good mouse to play games with. My budget is about $60-$80. I really appreciate the help! :) (I have never bought a mouse before let alone one for gaming so I'm quite lost on where to start)

My top recommendation goes to the Razer DeathAdder. It's a classic gamer's mouse with 5 buttons and available in both left- and right-handed shapes. It uses a 3,500 DPI optical sensor, one of the best tracking sensors in any gaming mouse, even if it's not as extremely high DPI as laser mice (and DPI is overrated; 3,500 is more than sufficient for just about anyone). It's $60 from Razer's own online store, and $48 on Amazon:

Is there a wireless one or are wireless mice no good for gaming?

Most wireless mice are no good for gaming due to increased response time. However, in the last few years there have been several good gaming wireless mice with the same response time as wired models. The main downside of wireless gaming mice is that they're generally quite expensive compared to their wired counterparts.

The Razer Mamba is essentially the same as the DeathAdder, except wireless, and with a 5,600 DPI laser sensor. Unfortunately, it's pretty expensive, at $115 from Amazon (MSRP is $130). I bought mine refurbished from Woot for $70, but that's only when they're available.

The only wireless gaming mouse I can think off the top of my head within your budget is the Logitech G700. I've never owned one, but it's held in high esteem by most members who have used it here. It's got a 5,700 DPI laser sensor, and 13 buttons IIRC. It's $73 on Amazon, I think it's $100 from Logitech directly:

OK, I did see the G700 and was looking at it but I was afraid with 13 buttons they would get in the way? I did see this mouse and it looks pretty good I think its wired and wireless? The Orochi is a Bluetooth mouse. It's great for portability, but Bluetooth is inherently too laggy to be really good for gaming. Luckily it comes with a detachable 3-foot compact USB cable that turns it into a full-power 4,000 DPI 1ms response gaming mouse.

I like my Orochi, but it's not a true wireless gaming mouse. It's a good portable wireless mouse, and it's a good wired gaming mouse.

Is the Orochi rechargeable? If not how long do the batteries last for and do you need batteries when it's connected by USB? Thanks!

Deathadder for price. Orochi for useability.

Not rechargeable; it uses two standard AA batteries (although you can use rechargeable ones and charge them outside the mouse if you want). I've only had to change my Orochi's batteries once, about a year after getting it. The second pair is still going, although I don't use that mouse as much as I used to.

You do not need batteries for wired mode; the mouse has a power switch that you can leave off while the mouse is plugged in. Hell, you can even take them out completely while you use it in wired mode.

Alright, Thanks for all your help I think I'm going to go with the Orochi, it seems like a really nice mouse. When I get it I'll tell you how I like it! :) Thanks again!
