After about 30mins of research... the only major differences between the Krait and Diamonback, is the Viper Shell on the Krait, 1200Actions Per Min, and of course the orange LEDs. --- I know they seem to market the mouse for RTS's but is there really any difference between the Krait engine, and the DB's?

During daily use, would a casual gamer notice the difference? --- Is the FPS performance really that bad?

BTW: i have been using MS Optical Whell Basic for a few years, and it has worked fine. I was shopping for a wireless mouse for a while, SPECIFICALLY Logitech LX7, but i was worried about radio inteference while in Class, or at the Local Coffee Shop... Thus i am looking into the Krait.

    Thanks,
    BankBen

I'd say that, for the average gamer, Krait vs. Diamondback is comparable to the difference between a Corvette and a Viper - one is slightly better than the other, but both will still kick ass. If you've been using an MS mouse and it worked for you, then might as well get something similar, unless you can find a Razer on sale or something.

    Thanks for you reply...

I think my friend purchased his Razer Diamondback from Fry's for $55.00. the Krait should be around $39.00, considering that there is no big difference between the two, (i didnot really need 7 buttons, but i did like the on-the-fly sensitivity).

How much of a difference would a casual (or Hardcore) gamer see while playing Day of Defeat (HL2)??? using Razer Krait, and Diamondback... I understand that these mice blows my MS Optical Away. --> What i am really trying to get at, is whether $15.00 is worth the difference.

I was looking to upgrade to a wireless mouse, but at this time a wireless does not fit my needs. I looked into a razer mouse b/c i wanted good performance, and a decent price. I could only find "el-cheapo" wired mouses form Logitech and MS, it seems if all their newest technology is invested in Wireless.

Thanks for you post Scarf Face.

Logitech has semi-decent gaming mice: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlist/US/EN,crid=2463

$25 for MX518 and 35 for G5, online deals. Both seem pretty decent.

By the way, wireless mice to me seem hit-or-miss with different people. I've read many reviews saying how wireless sucks and reception is bad, and many others saying it's perfect. I myself have had a Cordless Duo Mx700 for 2.5 years, and haven't had any problems (then again, it's a desktop system, and my mouse is right next to the base at all times).

The difference between the two Razers is probably something you'd only notice (or need) if you play competitively. Froogle also has Diamondbacks for 35-40, plus shipping maybe. To be honest I've never even used a Diamondback, but buying online, difference will be like 10 bucks... might as well go for the good stuff. Otherwise, if you can find a Logitech gaming mouse on sale, you can pick that up too. Really depends on what your planned budget is.

It is soo strange... I have not been able to find the "Krait" anywhere but direct from the manufacturer. From what i can gather, the mouse was announced sometime late last year; but i have been unable to find an official release date. I was hoping to find the mouse at some brick/mortar store, but something like newegg/tigerdirect would have been fine too; but still no luck from either.

Can anyone tell if there has been an official release?

    MX518
G5 shows as 35 on Froogle, but is 42 in reality on the site.

Both seem to have free shipping in USA.

EDIT: Ah, OK, I'm retarded, those are refurbs. :s

I would take a Razer over a Logitech - I find them to be better for gaming. More responsive, and a better feel. I own a Razer Diamondback, and have been using it for almost a year. It's a wonderful mouse, picked it up at Best Buy on sale for $49.

It never lost tracking, or skipped; rock-solid performance the entire time. I highly recommend it.

Incase anyone was wondering, i just purchased a Razer Diamondback from Fry's Today (4/29/06). Their current promotion starting (4/28/06) through (5/4/06) offers the diamondback for 40USD out the door! plus a 20USD mail-in rebate. The offer applies to the Chameleon Green and Salamander Red

It is a Terrific buy! and a great steal at 20USD

    Warmest Regards,
    BankBen
