I got a Razer Orochi mouse, and although it has been a frustrating experience, it is getting there.

I got the mouse because I loved the idea of having a dongless wireless mouse for most of the time, and then a really nice precision mouse for gaming or photoshopping. The usb cord that plugs the mouse in is nice and short, and of that fancy braided nylon material.

I've finally figured out how to get the mouse to always work in wired mode, and always work in bluetooth mode. My only beef left with the mouse is that the scroll wheel does not behave like a normal scroll wheel, in that when you click on a link with it, it does not open that link into a new tab - which is how i like to browse the net.

I can set up macros, and I tried to make a macro that was essentially left control, left click. And although it worked for a bit, no longer workds, and I can't figure out why not, other than the FAQ on Razers site says that you can't assign mouse buttons to macros. (although honest, it did work for a while)..

    Razers support is awful.

Has anyone had any luck with setting up middle click to open links in a new tab with an Orochi mouse? (i think that the other razer mouse do the tab thing correctly and by default)

    Thanks for your help!

I'm guessing somewhere in the mouse button setup you will have to set the middle button as the middle button for whatever profile you're using. I had the Orochi for a week and ended up returning it. Isn't really a gaming mouse when not plugged in. Alot of mice youhave to set up this way though. Had to to it on all my Logitechs as well.

That is what I would have expected as well. However there is no 'middle button' option in the available drop down list. It is odd.

I have however finally had luck with making a Macro that is essentially L-Ctrl, Left Click, Release Left, Release L-Ctrl. Which opens tabs in new windows. When I first did this it didn't work, then it did, and then it didnt. It started working again, and hasn't stopped. I am hoping at whatever is causing the conflict is resolved (though it always worries me that it is just waiting to pop back up as an issue). The official Razer docs say that you can not assign mouse mountains to macros, so it is neat that this actually works.

as for the other two replies, the dudes with the signatures that take up many times more space than their content.

I don't know about your software but some of them list the middle button as "button 3". It might be in there somewhere. Otherwise you could just remove the drivers and use the default windows ones, which should recognize it as a middle click.

you would think.. but nope.. there isn't a very large number of actions you can assign to the button, and none of them are close to the scroll click, middle click, button 3, or anything else that would work.. i don't think it defaults to a middle click without the driver either.. at any rate.. i really want the drivers as they add a fair amount of functionality to the mouse.

My macro still seems to be working fine.

After having used the mouse for over a week I can comment that it is physically a nice mouse. The right and left buttons work well, it is very good at tracking on my marble counter top (which many mice will not work on)

The side buttons could be bigger, but they aren't too bad.. Bluetooth works pretty decent once I got it working. The responsiveness is good enough to have lots of fun in borderlands while sniping... though it does some time fall asleep (annoyingly)..

weirdly, my favorite thing about the mouse is the small micro USB cable that comes with it to plug it in. It is a braided nylon cable, very light, and quite flexible.. And since it is micro usb, i can use it to charge my phone, my headset.. you name it.. I really need to do some googling for cables like it.

In the intervening time I got given one of these for Christmas. It is definitely possible to configure the mouse wheel click as button 3. All I needed to do was go into the software control panel and pick that option. It either says "Mouse 3" or "Middle Click".

As for the wired/wireless thing. Turn the wireless switch off, then plug it in. Unplug it, then turn the wireless switch on again. Always works for me, although you may be having a specifically Mac-related problem.

I have the razer orochi mouse. I have none of the problems you are experiencing. It connects all the time to my laptop, it works fine with the cord, and when I click the scroll wheel it opens up the page in a new tab.

I just checked the control panel, middle button is marked "Universal Scrolling" for some reason. Pick that and you're done.
