    Hello folks,

The battery of my Toshiba A505-6005 is dead and I do not intend to buy a new battery. Instead, I plan to use it on direct power. The power adapter is fine but it becomes an issue if I have to go and work in different room.

Toshiba website says that the adapter is 120W. Pardon my little understanding in electricity but I wonder if the laptop will run on 65W power supply? Voltage of both adapter is 19V. Toshiba is 6.32A and the other one I am looking into is 3.2A

    Thanks in advance.

Have you considered getting the exact adapter that is specific to your brand and model from ebay?

I got my power adapter from ebay for my A215-s4697 (I think that was my model) for approximately 7 bucks

Fuzzy I would recommend against it. as Misft33333 stated it is a better move to get the specific unit for your laptop. I used to work extensively on Dell's you could not get them to boot if the watts were too low.

Buy a Toshiba-branded laptop adapter that is specifically designed for your laptop. Look on your current power adapter for its model number, and do a search for exactly the same part / model number. It should not be expensive to buy one from eBay or Amazon Marketplace.

It'll run on the 65 watt power supply, but when the laptop requires more power, the adapter may not be able to support the need and will shut down.

The oem supply is rated as 6.32a because maybe the laptop may draw up to that or less, so if your usage demand up to 3.4 am from the 65watt power supply, youre golden.
