    Hi everyone,

I just purchased an Asus G1 laptop and would like to get a car charger/adapter as well as a spare ac adapter for it.

I saw the Kensington 120w ac/dc adapter and was wondering if this works, and is safe to use on the laptop.

Also, does it come with the needed tip, or do I have to buy it separately?

Last but not least, are there any other/better options, or is this the best way to go?

    Thanks,
    Polett.

The Kensington 120W is good bet - make sure that you get the right tip, or you risk damaging your motherboard. It is safe, can be used in the car, at home or on a plane.

Ok, then which is the right tip, and how do I know that I have it?

    Bumping for answers...

Does the proper tip come included? If not which one do I need?

Any other suggestions, or places where I can buy the OEM ones?

    Thanx,
    Polett.

I see that Kensington's tip compatibility database is seriously out of date.

However, when I had an Asus W3A I found that the standard tips supplied with 3 different third party PSUs all fitted it, and I would therefore expect that one of the Kensington standard tips would fit the G1 (it is unlikely that Asus will have changed their standard power socket between different models - it would complicate their PSU logistics). The photo of the tips in the review show several of about the right size (but there are two factors in what will fit: the outside diameter and the size of the hole inside , although a hole which is slightly oversize will still work).
