    Hi, guys.

Sooo... a while ago, I got really fed up with my Lachesis and decided to pick up a G500, hoping that it would be a better fit for my hand. I use my mouse palm-style, and I have large-ish hands, so the Lachesis just got really uncomfortable after extended periods.

Well... whoop de doo, it turns out that the G500 is still on the small side. Half of my palm and my last two fingers are dragging on the table when I use the mouse.

So what I was wondering was - anyone know if it'd maybe be possible to somehow splice one of those gigantic Logitech Trackman mice's bodies onto a regular mouse? I don't really need anything other than the LMB, RMB and scroll wheel. Still doesn't seem like it's gonna happpen, though :(

I think youd be better off just finding an extra large mouse and sticking with it

If you wanna go crazy, nothing stopping you from casting your own out of fiberglass or whatnot and just transplanting the "guts" of a mouse into it. But it'd be a pretty time-consuming project if you did ;)

Hrm... maybe I'll do that. Buy a second G700 and see what I can do with it. I kinda wish mine had a "shelf" for my pinky.

The G500 is not the largest mouse ever made. Try the G700 or Razer DeathAdder.

Not sure there's any good way to attach it. It's a textured surface, so I'd have to use glue or something which is another reason I'd want to have a "sacrificial" G700 to try it on ;)

You may also want to consider the R.A.T. 7, which is physically adjustable. I'm not sure to what extent, though; I haven't used it.

My hands are on the large side, but I'm not that big a feller. I'm Asian, for goodness' sakes.

I did find that the original Xbox controller was a perfect fit, though. The Controller S was a little on the small side.

Sadly, I haven't been able to find such a mouse.

    Exactly!

Tried a friend's DeathAdder, and that isn't significantly larger than the G500. G700 does look nice, but I hate wireless mice, and it does look like my last two fingers would still be dragging on the table.

Can't really find one over here in Singapore, and from what I've read, the range of adjustments still aren't quite enough to make the mouse extra-large. It seems that it ranges from medium to moderately-large.

P.S. - Kdawgca: Yeah, that'd be great, if it were about... 10 times the volume it appears to be in that picture :(

if g500 is small. G700 is where it's at :D

    or Rat7/9

Razer Mamba? I think that's relatively about G700's size. I'm a palmer as well and I can personally tell you; for a palmer of any handsize, G700 is where it's at bud. Can't say anything more, just awesome mouse.

    G700 or Mamba

    :)

^The Mamba is physically identical to the DeathAdder, so if the DA is too small for him, the Mamba won't be any better :p

Can't find a RAT anywhere here to test it out, and I figure I probably shouldn't buy yet another mouse without trying it first.

Sadly, as mentioned, the G700 is still on the small side. Found a place today that had an open one on display, and the base of my palm and my little finger still drag on the table. Ring finger can be placed on the mouse, though I'm not sure if it'd get tiring holding it there for a long period of time.

I need a mouse that's comfortable, especially since I'm starting work at a new place next week. Will be in front of a computer up to 20 or so hours a day, using the mouse intermittently throughout the day.

EDIT: More thoughts about the G500: I find that I -can- fit most of my hand on the G5, if I place it pretty far forward, leaving my fingers hanging over the front edge of the mouse. This does, unfortunately, make using the scroll wheel exceedingly uncomfortable, and unwieldy at best.

If I could somehow grow a miniature finger in between my index and long fingers...

I owned a Cyborg RAT7 for about two months. I can say that:

    * It is adjustable lengthwise, to a large degree.
    * It is adjustable width-wise, to a moderate degree.
    * It is somewhat adjustable height-wise, by switching different shaped palm grips. However, I would not consider it to be a large palm-grip mouse, because it does not have a tremendously large palm "hump" where your palm would rest.
    * It does have swappable right-side grips, including a grip that gives you a "shelf" to rest your ring finger and pinky so they don't drag on your mousing surface.

    I can also say that:
    * It is a VERY comfortable mouse. By far, the most comfortable mouse I've owned
    * But it has a terrible mousing sensor (Philips Twin-Eye). That sensor is very picky about the mousing surfaces you use it on, and occasionally skipped for me when using it on my $7 cloth-surface mouse pad.
    * The included software that comes with it to configure the mouse is also pretty bad. I don't know how much this matters to you, but don't expect the polish you get from Logitech's or Razer's software suites.

you got like monstrous hands? :D yeah my ring finger is always just resting along the right wall of the mouse and my pink is dragging.

do you like to use the trackball?
What about the Logitech m570? That's a very large platform so you should be able to fit all your fingers on very easily.

Just went through every single mouse newegg sells. That really seems the best fit if you want your whole hand on there. Otherwise if you want to try the rat 7, just buy it and test it out for a day. Don't like, return it.

My hands are frankly quite enormous; I have only met one person in my life with hands larger than mine. I have no issues at all using a G700. My pinky does brush the mousepad a little, but since there is not much force on it the way I hold the mouse the friction doesn't bother me; in fact I sometimes use it to enhance my precision by preventing the mouse from "overshooting" in games. I have my ring finger on the side. I think if you give the G700 a try it will work fine, unless you have freakishly large hands.

I seriously doubt that your hands are larger than mine; I think there will be a comfortable way for you to hold the G700 that will satisfy you, unless you are very picky and totally can't deal with the pinky dragging. I have never used a mouse that I could fit my pinky on; it has always gone on the side for as long as I have used computer mice.

Yeah pretty much what he said =\ I'm the same way too, the tip of my ring finger and majority of my pinky is always sliding on the mousepad. As well like you, definitely an advantage for me when I'm playing my game. Don't mind it at all, if anything it's very comfortable than trying to cram my entire hand/all fingers on to the mouse. Never have I even touched or used a mouse that can accommodate that.

That molding stuff is pretty interesting though.

Hmmm. How large, exactly, can it get? Compared to, say, the G500, MX518, Sidewinder X5 and Steelseries Ikari?

I like the size of most trackball mice, but can't get used to a trackball. Especially while gaming. It doesn't seem like trackballs are really suitable for gaming, especially games where I need to click and drag. How does one even do that on a trackball?

Can't use NewEgg, I'm afraid. I live in Singapore, which is pretty much halfway round the world from where NewEgg ships.

That does look very interesting! I was thinking of just figuring out a way to attach a plastic plate of some sort to the right side and rear end of my mouse to rest my fingers and palm on, but this would be even better.

Gts, Mjolner: Yeah, my hands aren't really all that large. I'm only 6' exactly - tall for an Asian guy, but a dwarf compared to some of you freakazoid white boys. I think the problem is that, well, I'm a bum XD I want to rest my entire hand on the mouse. This, combined with the fact that my hands are on the large side for my size, means that the G500 is about 2-3" shorter than I would like it to be. I like things large - mice, steaks, breasts, whatever.

Oh you're in Singapore?! That changes things around for buying online. lol

Measure up! Where do you stand with my hand?

Oh yeah you're going to game too... Just get a touch screen monitor.. so you don't have to worry about mouse size and get headshots by just touching the head on the screen. (I wonder if it really work that way..)

Get two mice. Gaming and work mouse. Bring one to work like the logitech m570 as mentioned and get a DeathAdder or G500 for gaming. At this point, I think the only thing that you'll be satisfied with to get your whole hand on is; making that mold and put it over the mouse.

Ah, slightly longer, if I'm looking at your hand versus that ruler correctly. My hand is a shade under 8" from wrist to the tip of my middle finger, when laid flat on a table.

You're right - it does look like I'ma have to mould my own mouse grip, at this rate. Mumble.

Kinda makes you wonder where Shane Carwin and Yao Ming get their mice from...

Yao Ming, lol. So many different answers I can give but they're all not forum appropriate so I'm just not going to say anything other than that.

    Here!
It's generic, but I'm 6'3" and my hand from is about 8.5 inches from start of palm to tip of middle finger and it fits pretty good. Has 3 different DPI settings. Not a super mouse or anything, but I use it for pretty much everything-Games, Ps, browsing. Works good.....

That's an unusual brand of mouse you have there. Honestly, I'm not sure about buying a mouse that's not from Microsoft or Logitech - are they going to last?

Also, that mouse doesn't look nearly large enough for the hams you employ as hands. Not enough material to extend to the base of your palm.

P.S. - Practise some fighting arts, by any chance?

I had never heard the brand either. But seems to work nice. Still, as you say, no where for the palm or pinky/ring finger.

As for the fightong arts-not officially unless someone ticks me off and gives me a reason. Been a long time though. Should I????
