    I was wondering if anyone here own a kensington optical mouse and if you could list some of your experience u had on it. I was looking for an optical mouse for my notebook and not sure if I was to go with logitech or kensington since circuit city offer a pretty good deal on both right now. I have a logitech mouse for my desktop and it works pretty good so far, but I have no experience on Kensington optical mouse. The model I am looking at is 72218 optical mouse with retractable cord. Thanx in advance.

    After having tried a number of optical mice for my laptop, I have settled on one made by IOGEAR. It's quite small, has accurate movement, operates on most surfaces, and has a carrying case. Unfortuately, it does not have a retractable cord. You can find
    it at CompUSA. They also have an excellent selection.

    hey i had a kensington back home in singapore and it was the one with the retractable cable and it was good, but i was not impressed with the one i bouhgt after-- the logitech wireless set MX series.
    but in itself, no complaints except, that it was a bit oddly designed with the cable storage idea reducing the area of the optical scanning. (see pics to understand)
    hope that helps
    bye

    I wouldn't use anything but a track ball like my Logitech Optical Trackman MSRP $59.95, I got used to not having my hand move all over the mouse pad, now I put it on the arm of my chair.[ :D]

    About 6 months ago I bought the Logitech wireless optical mouse for notebooks. It's a tad bigger than some of the other notebook sizes, but I like the fact that it's wireless. It comes with a little USB-based transceiver and uses 2-AA batteries. I love it. I saw it on sale at Best Buy recently for $30.

    I bought a wireless optical mouse by Logictech. It is model number
    M-RAA93. Paid around $30 at Sam's Club. No wires and it works great.
    I use it 10-12 hours a day and the batteries last almost three weeks.

    For my desktop I bought a Logictech MX1000 and it is also very good.

    Crayaco, how do you like the little notebook usb mouse, how well does it function? I plan on picking one of these up from Sam's Club too. There is a Kensington at Staples for 10 dollars more that has a recharging base with it and batteries but I've always liked the Logitech mice.

    X6000, 3.2 Ghz, 512meg ram, 256 ATI X600 video, 17" Brightview Screen, 60gig 7200rpm Hard Drive, 8X DVD Burner, 54g 802.11b/g WLAN w/ 125HSM/SpeedBooster

    Upgrading from a Sager Celeron 500, 192meg ram, 6gig 4200 RPM Hard Drive, 8 meg ATI Rage LT Video Card, 15" Screen, 4X DVD player.

    Shadow,

    I have no complaints. I have used logictech and microsoft wireless optical mice and I like this one the best.

    Give it a try. Sam's has a great return policy.

    i recommend a bluetooth mouse if you have integrated bluetooth, even if you dont have an internal bluetooth card the dongle for a BT dlink adapter is smaller than most wireless dongles ive seen, if you have an intergrated bluetooth adapter the mouse will be truly wireless.
    if you are getting a wireless mouse i recommend 2500maH Sanyo rechargeable batteries, they last for months and only take 40mins to recharge both of them.

    -->Asus M6BNe | Pentium M 1.6GHz Dothan | 1024MB PC2700 Micron Ram | Radeon 9700 Pro 64MB | 80GB Samsung 5400 RPM 8MB Cache | Gigabit LAN | CDRW + DVD Combo |
    -->Compal CL56 | Pentium M 1.6GHz Dothan | 1024MB Ram | Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB | 60GB HDD | 10/100 LAN | DVDRW |

    As kindly quoted by pr5owner:

    "if you are getting a wireless mouse i recommend 2500maH Sanyo rechargeable batteries, they last for months and only take 40mins to recharge both of them."

    I never thought of the possibility of utilizing rechargeable AA batteries for a wireless, optical mouse, but thank you for bringing it up... [8D]

    Those Sanyo 2500mAh AA NiMH batteries, are getting great reviews, and I have located a TurboCharger 4000 Smart Battery Charger and Conditioner for $22.95...definately a worthwhile purchase possibility...

    if your going to be doing any gameing on your notebook than i recomend a corded optical mouse, the wireless feature of ALL mice (bluetooth or otherwise) creates lag in the response time.

    Compaq Presario R3000z
    AMD Athlon 64 3400 - 2.2gHz
    1 Gig DDR
    15.4BrightVew (1280x800)
    100 Gig 4200Rpm
    nVedia GeForce 4 440 - 64MB
    8x Super Multi w/Multi-layer

    I am very curious . . . Exactly, which cordless mice are people having lagging issues with? I have read this from time to time. However, no one ever points out the device, which has this problem.

    I mostly use the Logitech products. Whether they are corded or cordless, I have never experienced any lagging issues. When playing FPS's, my Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks performs just as my corded Logitech MX510 does.

    Aside from the short battery life, my Bluetake BT500 bluetooth mouse is par, as well. The MX1000 is my mouse of choice, at the moment, until the new Logitech MX518 comes out . . . maybe.

    Perhaps, the Razer DiamondBack is the exception, but I have not tried that particular mouse, yet. So, I have no comparison.

    * Apple 17" PowerBook G4 * 14" Toshiba Tecra 8000 * Apple 14" iBook G4 *

    Although I can't comment on the lag issue with cordless mice, as I am not a gamer, lol, I just received my Logitech Optical Cordless Mouse for Notebooks and it is fine...

    However, having used my Touchpad for a long time, I am not too enamored with the 'scroll wheel' function...It just seems slightly notchish (yikes on grammar) when scrolling. I have tried the Firefox SmoothWheel Extension, but because of built-in Mozilla code, the author needed to put a button (ie: Alt) to press when turning the scroll wheel for Faster scrolling. And I'm not too excited about this 'two fingered operation'...

    I see that the Logitech V500 Cordless mouse has a new 4-Way Solid State Scroll Panel, and was wondering if any of our collective membership have used it? I do like the size of my present Cordless Mouse, but if the V500's innovative scrolling panel is better performing then a traditional ScrollWheel, I will give it a try...

    Thanks, for any input...
