I have just got my first laptop a Dell E1505 and now I'm looking for some type of a bag or case but there must be hundreds of which I know little about. I just need something that is well padded and it only needs to be big enough to hold an ac adapter but nothing probably any bigger. It won't be like I will be hauling my laptop around all that much but just something to protect it when I do. And when I'm talking about hauling it around I'm mainly talking about putting it in my car and taking it to my mom's or something.

I have $75 in Dell bucks coming so I will spend up to that amount if needed but if not necessary I can always use the remaining for something else. There seems to be different types of bags or cases, some hard or soft and maybe others I don't know about.

Can someone recommend a case or bag I can get from Dell that will fit my limited use?

Well yes because I would like to make use of my Dell bucks. But one caveat though, unless there is a bag that fits my limited use that was only around $30 or so then I might buy it outright and use my Dell bucks for something else. If a bag or case that's recommended runs upward toward $50 then I'm sure my wife would prefer I use the Dell bucks.

If you go with a case, you are probably going to want a bag to put it in. But if you get a bag, you probably won't have to worry about getting a case. Unless your really paranoid about your laptop getting damaged.

I use a bag and have been 100% satisfied.

you can get some decent targus backpacks for very cheap. some as low as $10. they are decent quality, and will fit your notebook and not much else. they have higher priced targus bags on the dell site, and they are all fine.

Check ebags.com and sign up for their newsletter. Every week they have something like 20% off and free shipping. It gets annoying after a while, so remember to unsubscribe LOL! :D

So it sounds like pretty much any Targus bag will work. So since I will just carry it around like a bag it doesn't make a difference whether it's a backpack or messenger bag?

If I order it online how do I know if it has plenty of padding or will they all have?

Also how will I know if it will hold an ac adapter if ordering online?

I have a messenger Bag from Dell. It's has firm, Internal and also external padding to protect the laptop comparment and has 1 other zipper pocket which i can use to store papers and folders in. And another pocket to put the extra things like pencils and school supplies and a few side pockets for mouses and ac adapters

Yep nice and expensive. When you're looking for a bag to fit a 15" laptop do you need to select one that specifically fits that size (or brand or model) or is it alright to purchase a bag that fits a 17" laptop for your 15" laptop?

What's the difference between a Messenger bag and a V-load bag or can a Messenger bag be a V-load bag?

i believe the dell backpack bags are made by Targus...and they are an excellent choice one a tighter budget. I also like my old Eastpack laptop bag. Well made and very durable. Now I use a Tom Bihn Super Ego messenger bag, Horizontal Brain Cell and Ultimate Shoulder strap...but that combo was almost $240ish with shipping (I splurged!! )

You should get the size of the bag designed for your laptop. If you have a 15" laptop but want to use a 17" sized bag you can but I would recommend that you get a good sleeve to go with it. The last thing you wanna do is have too much wiggle room between your notebook and the padding, the more movement the notebook has within the bag the greater chance for accidental damage.
