I'm looking for an optical notebook mouse with a short chord. I just don't want several feet of chord sitting on my desk. Any suggestions? I was looking on newegg.com but there is alot to choose from and I can't tell how long the chords are.

why don't you go with a wireless mouse so that there's no cord? there are several options, bluetooth or infrared. You're right, the manufacturers do not specify cord length.

You can always wind the cord up and put a rubber band around it, or even a velco band(which works really nice) I do that all the time and it doesnt bother me at all.

The rubber band is a good, simple idea but I definitely don't want a wireless mouse because I want to do some FPS gaming with it as well.

Although... my laptop is bluetooth enabled. hmm.
