Yup my 14" Lenovo Y450 arrived a while back but I need some way to transport it and carry it around etc...

Question is i'm not sure if I should just get one of those small sleeves or a whole carrying bag for it.

Ideally I wanted to carry it in my regular school backpack but i'm afraid of how well it would be protected in there. Will I need to get a whole new laptop backpack? Or could I just use the regular backpack I have now and put the laptop somewhere in there?

i would not put it in a backpack that does not have a rigid pocket for the laptop.
    just my 2 cents

    Ok thanks for the input.

Then I suppose my options are a messenger bag, a specific laptop backpack with a pocket, or just getting a sleeve.

Would any be better for someone traveling and walking around on a college campus?
The thing is I got a really durable backpack that lasted me all through high school and I was hoping to use that. However it's not a laptop bag.
If I use my regular school bag I can probably put the laptop in a sleeve and then put it in.
Or I can get a separate messenger bag and put the laptop in that while I use my backpack for books. I'd have two things to carry though.

I could just get a laptop backpack and use it for the books and the computer but i'm not sure if it'll last as long as my current one or work as well for the books.

If your looking for one with room for books and your lappy I'd have to recommend the Ogio epic. I just got one for traveling over the weekends and I can get my lappy (15" Macbook Pro) Clothes for 3 days, and even a couple books in there and still feel like I have room to add stuff.

I did a quick search and couldn't find any super sale. :(

    Best of luck!

I'm probably going to start to sound like a fanboy, but I just picked up a Tom Bihn Brain Cell, so I could retrofit one of my favorite messenger bags to carry my new laptop:

    http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/PROD/300/TB0390

The link goes to the vertical version of the Brain Cell (since that's what you'd want for a backpack, I assume) but they also make a horizontal version.

I've only had the thing for a day, but it seems to protect my laptop pretty well. You can read what I wrote about it here:
