I'm looking to get an external media server at my work.

It will be used primarily by two graphic designers (me and one other) and will have up to 5 other people accessing it. I figure 2 Terabytes is probably enough to store files on, and transfer file between us, but will consider more if it's not too expensive.

It needs to be accessible via mac and PC, some on the wireless network, some wired to it. All on the same router.

None of the computers are currently networked in any way, and we don't really want to set up a real network if possible. I just want to be able to easily store files on it like an external drive, that other people can then pull them off of, rather than E-mailing things across the room, especially with larger files.

Ideally, we would be able to access it remotely as well, but that's a low priority. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

if you all connect to the same router, etc. get a cheap RAID supported NAS like a DNS-323, 2 bay share center or Drobo. stuff in 2 x 2T drives so their mirrored ( redundant data backup ) plug it into your router and be done.

depending on your router etc outside access can be done easily. easier with windows units though

What is your budget for this? I have a drobo and a iomega that I use, both are really good but the drobo is better I think.

Ideally between $200-300, may consider more.

everyone I know with a Drobo NAS that does graphics design is pretty happy with it (especially when you've got it plugged into a router with tomato/dd-wrt/openwrt firmware)
