    Looking for a backpack.

Should fit a 15.4" Widescreen laptop (which is about 1.5 inches thick). With protective padding
Waterproof!!! I do walk in the pouring rain a lot
Plenty of room for big thick books books
    To be used for school
    No hard-plastic wheels or handles!!
(A soft flexible handle is ok)
Don't need any compartments for cell-phones, music players, or waterbottles.
An externally reachable pouch to fit a TI-89 Calculator is a must.
Preferred color is black or navy blue.

In the library, there are power outlets and ethernet plugs. So if possible, the backpack should have a convenient place to store an AC Adaptor (for charging the laptop) and a 5 foot ethernet cable.

    Thanks for your help!!

www.mobileedge.com is where you need to go. I have one of the Premium Backpacks, and everything fits perfectly. I also use my 89 Titanium alot too.

Mobile Edge has nice bags, I also like the Tom Bihn Brain Bag if your budget allows.

north face recon 2 fits my 15.4 DV4000. might check that out if you want a pack that's going to last in the weather. it's water resistant, so to be waterproof, might want to wrap in a north face waterproof bag or maybe they have sleeves' that are waterproof. anyways, i love my recon 2.

http://www.spireusa.com/products/ME5.html is the only place I've found that fits anything close to the Sager 5720, but then again the protective sleeve (boot) is still too small. Any 17" owners have any ideas? I could just buy a very slimline, barely padded sleeve if they are out there. Then I could fit it in this Spire model. Hmmmm

Any suggestions for a backpack for the Dell 9100. 14.1x10.8x2
remember the power brick is HUGE.

I've been searchin and searching through ebags etc. (during exams/obvious student. not for much longer i hope though)

    size: 30 liters (ish)

    features that I like:
    side compression straps*
    waist & sternum strap*
    external water bottle holder*
    ear phone port
    phone hoilster on should strap
2 main compartment incl laptop comparment*
removable sleeve/boot (when should you consider/not consider a boot?)

I's like something that doesn't neccisarily shout of LAPTOP. A little on the outdoor side (not black) and that can be used as a standard BP as well, for travel etc. (day pack size)

I would love to get a tricked out Brain Bag by Ton Bihn but he is a little on the expensive side to say the least.
$300 full tricked out with monlith, snake charmer, soft cell, fruidian slip, screen guard and thats not incl of delivery to our humble island of Ireland.

So as you can see I'am a tough customer. All suggestions appreciated

    Rgds,
    Attila

For the larger 17" notebooks...I have a Booq Folee17 Messenger...but I think they have a backpack for 17's as well. It's not water proof, but water resistant. I think someone on this site mentioned havin one of their backpacks...maybe a search will come up with some reviews?

I check them out. they are pretty slick but i'd be concerned about your coment that they are not water proof. Living in humble Ireland it tends to rain and in fact its been lashing all day.

I would be a little concern that my lappy would float in the laptop compartment. has this ever bothered anyone else?

    in addition
The only sleeve that will fit would be their power sleeve XXL which does not fit any of their backpacks.

plus the price of it all >$200 not incl shipping... i must look back at that post about european shiping
