Microsoft Wireless Laser 8000 Bluetooth Mouse

Well I’ve been seeing a lot of threads on “what Bluetooth mouse is the best” so I figured I’d share my experience with this one.
I bought this mouse off eBay for 20 dollars shipped. I don’t know how it only went for 20 but it did. You can pick this mouse up at newegg.com for 74 bucks.

    Features:
    • Rechargeable battery, with recharging pad.
    • 4 way scrolling
    • High definition laser technology
    • Bluetooth (comes with receiver for non Bluetooth laptops)
    • A battery life indicator light. (switches from green to red)
    • And instant viewer, which lets you see what windows you have open (similar to alt tab in windows)
    • 5 buttons
    • Brushed aluminum body

    Pros:
    • Great mouse fits perfectly in your hand
    • Good software
    • Rechargeable pad makes it easy to recharge your mouse, never change batteries
    • Connects to Bluetooth laptops perfectly
    • Mouse looks great wrapped in brushed aluminum

    Cons:
    • Since it has side scrolling it makes it hard to use the middle button because if you don’t push perfectly straight down the button doesn’t work.
    • I got mine for 20 bucks but some people may not want to pay 75 bucks for a mouse. (well worth it in my opinion though)
    Build:

Here are a few pictures of the mouse. As you can see it fits perfectly in my hand, and it looks pretty good as well.

    Software:

Here is a picture of the software under mouse properties. You can customize all 5 buttons. You can also customize the mouse buttons do different things in different programs which is nice.

There is also a picture of the instant viewer option when you press middle mouse. It just shows you all the windows you have open.

    Conclusion:

I have to say I’m extremely happy with this mouse. It feels so perfect in your hand. It’s great for my dv2500 because I only have 2 usb ports so I can’t waste one on a usb dongle for a mouse. When I get home I throw the mouse on the charging pad and take it off in the morning. The only real problem I have with this mouse is the middle button. Since I use a lot of cad I use the middle button to pan, and since the mouse has tilt wheel it makes it hard to use. But the mouse’s other buttons came in handy here. I used the left thumb button to pan and everything’s fine. Hope this review helps somebody.

Thank you. I just bought the Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 mouse and I will be returning it tomorrow. It's just too small. I will be buying the 8000. I don't know why there aren't better bluetooth mice on the market but this one looks to be the best available now.

Oh yea I love the Intellipoint software. It allows you to customize the mouse in so many ways to suit your liking.

Nice that it has the charger.

How is the mouse's size and feel compared to the Logitech V470?

I wish Logitech made the Setpoint software like the Intellipoint software. Application specific hotkeys are pretty nice compared to changing my hotkeys when I switch games :(
