I was thinking of using my media center to play movies to my tv, and then I got to thinking I usually just watch dvd's.

Is there a way to create a video library on your computer for viewing on your tv. IE copy a dvd to an external drive or program or device for playback on tv so I don't have to keep switching out dvd's. Any solution?

I use a free program called Format Factory to copy over dvd's to avi format on my hd. I then use my xbox 360 to stream movies from computer to tv.
