    Hi all,

I plan to buy me the new MBP 15" when it comes out (whenever this might be...).

To round the experience up I would like to get a external screen as well.

I am not very familiar with external screens and a quick search on amazon was a bit overwhelming so I would like to ask the community for some help! ;-)

What I would like to have/spend:

    - at least 22"
    - want to use it for:
*watching movies, play games (ego shooter)
    *for work (Adobe products)
    - should not be too big
    - do not want to spend more than 300 USD

    Thank you very much.

If you're going to use it for work, I assume color accuracy is of some importance? The Dell U2412M has an IPS screen and when on sale it flirts with the $300 mark before taxes. The U2312HM isn't a bad choice either and it is currently $240 before taxes.

In general I try to stay away from low-quality screens (a.k.a. TN) that have 160° viewing angles and bad color reproduction (especially when viewing it at even a slight angle).

I don't know how well it works for photo-editing, but I've got a Viewsonic va2431wm that works great for games. 24" wide, 23.6" viewable, and they've been on sale for a while now. I got mine for $180 at Microcenter in November, and I've seen them around $160 now.

I'll second a vote for the Dell Ultrasharp line. Dell's IPS panels have always been great for me.

I just purchased another U2312HM recently. For reviews on monitors check out tftcentral.com, they're fairly extensive in their testing of monitors.

you can get the U2412m for ~$320 at dell if you call and ask if they got coupons and if they dont they should give you a $25 discount so it ends up being $320. Also ghosting for games isn't too bad as long as you don't play games like zombie driver :/

EDIT: no one comes close to tftcentral in reviews...wish they reviews more though :/
