Hey guys and gals, I'm not sure if this is in the right section of the forum but hopefully it is!

I am at my wits end with trying to find a replacement, genuine HP 90W PSU for my Envy 14 (i'll give the part numbers in a bit) and I am in some desperate need of help from you lovely people. I have tried to order 3 other adapters from a well known auction site, but the part that arrives is never the part ordered (though the actual metal connector is the right size, the plastic black surround is much too thick for my Envy's port)

    Anyway, onto the numbers!

The original charger Part Number was: HP Part number: 608428-001
But under that it says ' Replace with HP Spare: 609940-001'
Putting '609940-001' into HP-Partsurfer tells me ' part is no longer supported and to use 693712-001' instead

Looking around for part 693712-001, it seems to be rare or non-existent in the UK! And I really have no idea where else I can look for a genuine, legit, reliable HP adapter. They all seem to be third party alternatives... Which I am weary of. The charger that arrives when I order it online, is part number: 534093-001, despite me never using those numbers or asking for that version, I think it's an HP Compaq charger, same voltages, right connector just way too thick around the plastic

I think I am just looking for a bit of guidance before I give up and give-in, and start *hacking* away at the plastic surround on this charger I have bought online to make it fit (which isn't something I want to be doing on a brand new charger)

    So yeah
    <_<
    >_>
Sorry for the mini-rant and WoT, sometimes you've just gotta let it all out. Thanks for any help that you might be able to give me :)

You're in the right section. If I were you, I'd try to find an HP adapter for a similar laptop model. As long as the voltage supplied is the same and wattage is equal or higher, you're good to go. Manufacturers tend to use the same adapters across multiple models, so it's worth a shot. I'm currently using a M6600 adapter on my M6700 and it's doing just fine as an example.

Thanks everso much for the reply Tijo, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. In the end I followed your advice and just kept the adapter I bought, as it had all the correct voltages and watts etc and I just trimmed up the hard plastic surround. Will hopefully do the job until I find a (long overdue) replacement later in the year!

    Thanks again :)
