Don't get the Dell 24" 2408WFP. [H]ardForum users, and others, have complained of really bad input lag with it.

    [H]ardForum people complain about everything.

LCDs are very subjective. In a perfect world, you could go to the store, have them pull one new out of the box, you could try some games and whatever on it, check for bad pixels, and if you liked it, just buy it. Unfortunately not many places have the selection or patience to allow for this. The Fry's by me has all the LCDs hooked up through one break-out box, and it causes all of the signals to be very banged up and so every panel looks horrific. It's impossible to make any kind of subjective decision based on what they have on display. This is the kind of problem one faces when trying to decide on a panel.

It really comes down to reading reviews, narrowing down a handful of choices, finding ones you can at least see up close, and try to make an educated decision. I'm also looking to get a new panel, my non-widescreen Samsung 214T has me spoiled though, as it's a very nice panel and I have absolutely no problems with it. I really want that panel only wider. Just when I think I found it, generic [H]-like THAT PANEL SUCKS post creates doubt and I hesitate. I started looking for a new panel a year ago. I'm still looking.

Try to get one with a big contrast ratio,as it really matters. The one provided in the link above, 800:1, it`s a no go.
If you`re paying 500$ on it,and since it`s that huge, don`t go for any crap.
3000:1 if possible , low response time (>5ms) and high brightness.
