Has anyone used either the USB or standard input Logitech Microphone?

They're fairly priced and seem small enough to be easily carried around (someone confirm this please). The specifications on the two seem to be identical. Which produces better recordings? Are they very directional? Which would put a greater drain on a notebook battery?

I'd like to record lectures in conjunction with OneNote but unfortunately the built in mic in my ThinkPad is less than adequate. It picks up fan noise and typing quite well, but beyond that... :/

any and all feedback would be great

    Thanks
