    Logitech Mx1000 Laser Mouse
    [IMG]

Not to long ago my wired mouse got replaced by a wireless mouse. I don’t think after using a wireless mouse I could go back on Wired. Anyways I was using a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Mouse and USB Receiver until last night when the mouse decided to die on me. Using the touchpad for one night was killing so I had enough and went out and bought a Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse.

    Package Contents
    Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse
    Rapid-charging base station
    CD with SetPoint software
    Installation guide
    USB to PS/2 adapter
    AC power adapter
    Three-year limited hardware warranty

    Feel, Looks and Design
So far Logitech have been the worlds No. 1 in mouse technology. The latest being the MX1000. Although the MX900 (Bluetooth) and MX700 mice’s are high end mice, the MX1000 Blows them both away. With a simular construction as the MX700, the MX1000 is slightly lighter. The design is slightly different but almost the same. All in all the MX1000 is a comfortable mouse for every day use.

    Buttons
With most mice these day the standard set of buttons can be found, Scroll (up, down). But with Microsoft introducing the Left right scroll Logitech have added this feature into their mouse as well. With addition to that you have what Logitech like to call Cruise Control. What this does is allows you to scroll up and down continuously with a touch of a button. This can be found right above and below the scroll wheel. On the side of the mouse you will find the Programmable Buttons, although the default is forwards and back. Another button is the Quick Switch button (same as doing Alt+TAB) but it only seems to work with the Software installed.

    Performance
All I have to say is WOW! I’ve been using the MX700 (at my parents house) and I thought that was such a good mouse. To the average person a mouse is a mouse but people with knowledge this mouse would blow them off their feet. The precision of the mouse is second to none. Thanks to the new laser technology, it is said the MX1000’s surface sensitivity is 20x more than the standard Optical mouse, bound to pick up movement on the shiniest surfaces. Combine this and Logitech’s Fast RF and you have one of the best mouse on the market.

    Software
The MX1000 comes with Logitech Setpoint. Its not a must to install but to use the mouse to its full potential you must install the software. If not, the mouse still works but you many not get all the uses of the buttons.

    Battery
Ok one down point I must say is that the Internal Battery. Lithium Ion battery allows for a prolong use, but eventually the battery must be replaced. You guessed it Must go back to Logitech for service and repairs. The 3 Bar battery indicator, shows how much charge you have left in the battery before you must return it to the base station for a quick recharge. I’ve read somewhere the mouse can last up to 15days, yep that’s right 15days. That’s pretty impressive for a high end mouse.

    Conclusion
Users of mouses may think a mouse is a mouse. This is certainly not the case. With ergonomic designs, high performance and extended battery life, the MX1000 will blow you off your feet. The mouse is more for the gamers and graphic designers for the precision needed, but this doesn’t just restricts this to those users. The Fast RF is Logitech’s answer to a wired wireless mouse (if you understand me). So in conclusion thumbs up from me. You can’t go wrong with the Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse.

    Pros
Long battery life per charge (over a week)
    Multiple scroll buttons
    Battery status LEDs

    Cons
    Expensive
    Large

    Good review!

    I have a MX1000, also a Razer Diamondback.

MX1000 is heavy and expensive, those would be my only cons as well, but I'd add one more: I think the scroll wheel is a bit cheap feeling, I like the one on the microsoft intellimouse much better.

    Good job!

After using the MX1000 for about a week, I returned it and got a razorback instead. The MX1000 is too big, and more importantly, wayy too heavy for my liking.

For gaming I dunno it's not a good choice, but for everyday surfing or computing, it's pretty good.

    cheers,

    yass

As long as you don't lift your mx1000, it's a good mouse even for gaming. I have the mx1000 for my desktop and carry a MX518 for my laptop. I like both mice.

I'm using the mx700 and it's pretty good although sometimes the optical doesn't read from my faux...err...faux stone desk, so that'd been annoying.

I couldn't justify myself with the price of it though :(

    Nothing at all.

BTW, I've heard that you can use the IR USB dongle included with Logitech's MX series.

I'm using the USB IR dongle for the Lgitech Wireless Notebook mouse with my mx700, works like a charm. No need for the big clunky base :p

i love my mx1000. the weight is very satisfying to me. it feels like it's a substantial peice of equipment and very sturdy. it's briiliant to use the usb dongle from another mouse, but can you buy those seperately?

    Nope.

But a good choice is to buy the Logitech MediaPlay mouse, since that acts like a remote, use that as a remote and use the mx1000 for regular use!

But always check eBay if there are any.

You may be able to buy a old/used/broken wireless logitech mouse for $10 and just use the dongle..

It works wonders and great, especially if you don't want that clunky base there for anything BUT recharging purposes.

The switch is easy, just press the connect buttons and there you go, instant access!

well i thought this might be of help. I've had my Logitech mouse for over 2 weeks now and i'm still on the first charge of battery. with still 2 bars left on the easy to read LED's. This mouse is crazy! I use the mouse everyday so it gets a fair bit of use.
    that is all

Yes it does have great battery life!! :D

Mine lasts a bit less, maybe about a week and a half on a full charge, because I do some gaming and that takes up a good amount of the batttery life.

I think it is one of the most comftorable mice I have ever used! ;)
