I am confused as to which one to get. Primarily will be used for PC Gaming. If I get the 540 can I simulate 7.1 through software (essentially what the G930 is doing). I do not have a sound card, I have an Alienware M18x (which has a basic internal soundcard)

Any other headphones for gaming that you guys would suggest. I wanted to get the ATH-AD700 but they throw out too much sound (that's what I have heard)

You need headphones or a headset?

If you do not need the mic definitely do not get a headset because you pay more, have less options, and they are generally nowhere close to the quality of dedicated headphones.

If you did not like the AD700 because they are open and let sound out, look at the closed version the A700, or the alternative the M50.

What sounds better a $10 speaker from walwort or a $100 speaker from worst buy?
    Obviously the more expensive.

If you buy a $100 headphone with 2 drivers your effectively getting 2x $50 speakers.
If you buy a $100 headphone with 6 speakers your effectively getting 6x $15 speakers.

Quality > Quantity in audio unless your simply trying to fill a large stadium or something with sound, since we are talking about headphones... thats not a lot of space to fill.
I wont even bother to explain that your ear cant tell the difference between 2 drivers and 20 since you only have 2 eardrums and thus can only hear 2 sources of sound at once and it can be fully emulated via game engine or software to give the same effect if not more so.

Other things to think about are interface. Do you plan to use these only on computer via usb forever or do you at some point want the power to use them on other devices with standard audio connections?

I am planning to use it for the next 2 years at least with only my computer. I am not planning to get any gaming console OR a new audio device. I believe 2 years is the lifetime of a decent pair.

I basically go to office, work for 9 hours, come home and play for 4 to 5 hours on a PC :)

The G930 looks good (can't say the same about the quality from what reviews I have read) and has 7.1 (emulated) but the F540 is almost $40 cheaper

Apart from these, any suggestions ?

I would like to get a headset so that I can have the AIO. I would love to get the ATH AD700 down the line. Right now, I cannot have anything that throws out sound.

I have a pair of G930's as do 2 of my friends and we love them. The sound is good enough for me and they have around 10 hours of battery power which is pretty decent I find. I have had to RMA a pair and Logitech replaced them no questions asked after the mic suddenly fell apart but aside from that I have not not had any major issues. The drivers are kind of slow to be released and we have not seen much in terms of updates there. I do have a problem with my desktop and connecting the receiver but it seems to be isolated to my desktop as my M17X connects flawlessly to them every time. They can be a bit hard on the ears at first because you have to wear inthe padding somewhat which takes a couple days but after that I find them quite comfy.

In short they work quite well in my opinion and I like them. They do have some fall backs but not enough for me not to recommend them.
