Whenever I scroll with my G5, it makes a sound. I can't quite describe how it sounds, but it sounds as if the rolling wheel thing isn't going smoothly or something. Is that normal, or did I get a bad product?

    Thanks.

How old is it? Call Logitech. I heard they are pretty good about replacing broken things.

I understand your question. It's to help out in gaming. And that's a good thing.

Situation- Scrolling through weapons in your inventory? If you scroll too fast, you might skip the weapon you needed at the point of time and you die cause the mouse scroll didn't stop.

    I have one myself.

And the sound, it sounds like a small click each time you scroll..Kind of.

    Hm...now I'm confused.

simonfzhao says that it's not supposed to make a sound...

howie says it should make a sound...

The mouse is fairly new. It's been "clicking" or whatever you call it ever since I got it, which was about a month ago.

At first I was thinking that it was suppose to click, but then I started thinking about how the display I saw was, and I couldn't remember if it clicked or not.

So does anyone know if it should click?

If you guys have a G5, can you please say if yours "clicks" when you scroll?

    Thanks.

It's nearly silent if you notch it up and down. If you scroll it fast, it sounds like a zipper though. In your case, I'd assume it's not normal.

Well, I guess it's normal then.

It's quiet when done 1 by 1, but 3 or more makes a zipper-like noise.

    Thanks for all your time.

Trust me, for gaming, you want ti to click like that. It's completely intentional. I've had one for almost 8 months now. They do that so that when you're scrolling through weapons or something like that, you don't scroll to far; which is what might happen if there weren't specific notches.

It's intentional as mentioned, it's for precise scrolling, the clicks are loose so you can freely scroll, but with enough feedback that you know exactly when to stop :)
