My mom picked up a 17" HP notebook she loves but does not like the heat of it in her lap. I remember seeing products that had a padded bottom and a hard top for a laptop but having a hard time finding one for a 17". Can someone please recommend a good one?

Yeah im reading good things about it... what about the mouse pad add on piece? Is it firm enough to rest your hand on when using? The whole thing looks as if it will flex.

i haven't gotten around to orderin one myself yet, but there's some guys on here that own the lapinator. from what i've read and heard, the whole thing is very solid. no flex. the mouse pad extension connects to the side of the lapinator. u can see how it's mounted on their site. the thing i like about the lapinator is the rubber bumpers that raise the back of the laptop up. u can also purchase additional bumpers for added elevation or more contact points.

Thx for all the info... I am in houston also. You would think with all the electronic stores out here I could find something local.

I have an iLap (which I must admit I've never used on my lap) which is basically a flat aluminium board with standoff legs, which have removable padding so it can be used as a desktop stand (my main use for the CookBook Pros when I'm doing anything slightly G+CPU intensive) as well as on the lap. It dissipates heat fairly effectively.

If you're near a crApple Temple - oh, I mean Apple Store - in Houston, it's quite likely they'll have them in stock. You can call ahead of course.

I got the lapinator with the mouse add-on piece. My mom loves it. She puts a pillow under her arm for support and surfs ebay for hours lol. Thx for the advise!
