I am planning to buy a new lappy(nt sure which one), bt iam bit confused with the screen tech. used in the lappy like lcd, tft and led backlight display also tft lcd. so i wanna know which is the best screen among this. like i know led consumes least power. and tft angle is 180 bt what about the angle of led display.
also any other information necessary for the screens

    thanx in advance.

It all depends what you want to do with it. There's (basically) 2 categories of monitors:

TN panel: Fast response time. Poor color management, poor viewing angle. Cheap.
IPS panel: Slow response time. Great color management. Great viewing angle. Expensive.

LED or LCD are just the back lights:

LED: Consume less power but often have tints. Thinner, lighter.
LCD: Often have uneven back lighting. Heavier, thicker.

If you are into gaming, your best bet is to get a TN panel as colors and viewing angle don't really matter. If you are into photo editing or design, you need an IPS panel 100% of the time.

If you can choose between LED and LCD, I can't think of any reason not to pick the LED as it is a superior technology all together.

Actually, LCD is an umbrella term. The two backlights are LED (and within that there is WLED and RGBLED) and CCFL. There are many other different types of panels, even in notebooks such as *VA and AFFS+. Please read this for more info:

    Monitor Specifications

Just note that 99% of notebooks use TN panels only.

Pretty decent angles. Just don't expect great viewing angles. There are laptops with IPS screens, but those can be costly.

Is there a specific reason why you're looking at viewing angle? Generally for a laptop it doesn't matter. I think we could help you a lot better if we knew your intentions.

LED is just the back light. The back light does not effect viewing angle at all. A typical LED screen in a standard laptop will have a poor viewing angle, and an IPS LED screen (such as the Cinema Display from Apple) has a near 180 degree viewing angle.

The viewing angle on an LED back light screen will be the same as a CCFL.

i saw some the lappies with lcd screen with poor viewing angles and so the pictures are not clear and i hate it. unlike the lappies with tft screen which are having 180 angle.
bt now i found that most of lappies are coming with this led tech.
so i was just trying to figure it out if they are also having 180 angle else i have to search a tft screen lappy.
well thanx a lot for the replies.
also please suggest some lappies with below conf.

    2. 500gb
    3. 1gb dedicated graphics(ATI/NVIDEA)

    5. tft screen.
    6. between $800 to $900
please suggest some of the best one

Is there a noticable difference between LED backlit depending on the manufacturer?

I'm considering getting a Sony vaio 12z series and it has a LED backlit but so does my G51. I do graphics and the G51 screen is really not too good at all but i heard good things about the sony's. I'm hoping for a big improvement if I get the sony.
