Is there a device or adaptor that will allow me to plug in a SATA Laptop HDD into a eSATA port?

There is a SATA to eSATA cable but the problem would be power since you'd probably need multiple USB ports to power or a dedicated adapter to the wall.
-
I thought eSATA has its own power though the port?
-
Nope, eSATA is data only.

E-sata combined with a usb port will provide power over e-sata although not everything supports it.
Most new laptops if they have an e-sata port will have a power over e-sata connection.
If you have an E-sata port best check it is powered. I am also not sure how much power is supplied, I think it is the same as what usb provides as it just borrows the power connectors AFAIK. -

That's based on the laptop manufacturer's discretion whether to include that feature. It isn't standard and will remain unpowered until eSATAp spec is finalized (with support for SATA/600).

I almost sure mine eSATA port is powered, I got this laptop in May, so it is fairly new, it is an HP HDX16t.

Check the HP support manual?

Even if it is a "powered" port, no power can go through a simple eSATA cable. -

This adaptor connects a SATA 2.5" HDD to an eSATA / USB combo port. It works fine (I've got a couple).

Intresting, something new that i learned, i always though it was a special cable, but just the same port in both ends "eSata".

Thanks for everyone's help on this issue, I decided to get this one: http://www.amazon.com/Acomdata-2-5-...TNGXXXUSE-BLU/dp/B001XHBNN2/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t because I liked the color and the look and I also bought an eSATA to eSATA cable on eBay for about $3.00 total.
