Hey guys time has come for me to buy a case for my laptop. I am off to college and will be walking from class to class. I want a bag that can hold my 15.4 inch sager2090 compalifl90 with a 9 cell extruding battery as well as its accessories/books. I was just wondering if you guys would recommend a messenger bag or a backpack for this even though i am leaning towards the backpack since it seems like it would be easier to carry. Also what is this i hear about notebook sleeves? Do you need one if you are getting a laptop backpack anyway? And also what should i look for when buying a backpack/sleeve? (such as padding here or terminology)

Also recommendations on nice quality but not too expensive bags/sleeves that will last 2 or 3 years also wanted :). By 2 expensive i mean 100$+. Thanks guys really need the help here never bought a sleeve or a laptop bookpack before.

I recommend the Crumbler if you want a Messenger bag.. As for Sleeves the Belkin sleeve is really nice.

My only concern with a backpack is the lack of control when you fall.

If you fall or trip with a messenger bag you can control whether you flop on it or not. With a back pack wherever you fall so does your laptop.

Slip on a wet tile and flop on your back only to find it was your 1500$ laptop that cushioned your fall.

But as he is going to walk a lot, he should take a backpack, as the messenger bag will have have the weight on one side, wich may cause big problem to you body later. If you want a good backpack, the Booq are awsome. I just receive mine, all is +++ and it look like it will last forever. Less expensive, targus are prety good too ;)

Ill agree 15.4 in is a bit annoying on a messenger, but honestly if you work out everyday like everyone should in college its not bad.. im like 5foot 4 and i can deal with my 14in in a messenger.. its all preference though.

Yeah i looked at the Booq bags they seem a little expensive though. I was just wondering should i still be aiming to get a bag catered to 15.4 inch laptops considering my sager2090 will have that 9 cell battery jutting out of its end. This also applies to sleeves that i might buy. I saw a sleeve on newegg for only 10 dollars i mean it doesnt have to be much fancier than that right? just protects your laptop against scratches in your backpack?

It depends on what you want.. The belkin i mentioned has really nice padding IMO.. a good Sleeve not only protects from scratches but will help mitigate the weight from texts books ontop of it.. Its all preference..

Does anyone have or seen one of the Belkin sling bags? They look nice online but I wanted to know if they were good quality.

There is a simple way to fix that. I have used messenger bags for 8 going on 9 years no issues what so ever. Just switch shoulders once a week or every day. No problems whatsover. The key is to get a nice and padded shoulder strap
